Hi Griffin! Give it time. It usually seems rough and ”not right” at first. When the clay has dried up a little bit, it’s easier to get it smooth. You can use a knife or a tool to carve in the leather hard clay too. Good luck! And cheers from Finland!

Hi There! I used my favourite clay, called 1154. It’s a stoneware clay with lots of grog. This clay is also a Raku clay. Almost all of my stuff is made of this same clay!. Thank you for your question and your support! Cheers from a Finland where the snow finally is about to melt! / Mika
