Looks much more realistic than your previous version. I took an anatomy class at university where we worked with cadavers so we had the bones and muscles of dead people cut up into various studies to show the particular area we were interested in (eg deep muscles of the chest). I could see where this would be invaluable to a sculptor such as yourself. You learn why things of the body are shaped the way they are, and it makes more sense (such as the foramen being circular to pass arteries, nerves and veins through).

@@thedarkpower I'm finding all this really fascinating, I'm usually painting, on the wood lathe or doing some pyrography. But I made a couple of pumpkins for decor and one about a foot high out of air dry clay and really enjoyed the experience. I have since ordered skulls of different sizes for references, tools and 3lb of Newplast to practice with. And watched so many KZfaq videos including yours. I have tried just sculpting with my hands but after a while noticed that I needed the hand tools, so I'm now eagerly waiting for their arrival. But watching your videos over and over is helping. Your eye for detail is astonishing, I love detail work its more of a challenge. Thank you for sharing your videos they are perfect for my needs.

Thanks really for an amazing tutorial! Do you think this sculpt is easy to do also with "Super Sculpey FIRM" ? Total noob in making sculpts but faces and craniums seems kind of easy once you get the hang of it.. or is it? Love your work man!!
@thedarkpower
@thedarkpower 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I find the firm sculpey a little too crumbly to be honest, but doi a skull is a good place to start if you want to do some sculpting :)
@thefacedlool2706
@thefacedlool2706 4 жыл бұрын
@@thedarkpower super sculpey is only crumbly if you have not kneaded the clay. You need to knead the clay once you get your hands on it. It also depends if you ordered it online during the summer, which can result in the clay being partially baked once it arrives, if it is too hot outside.
@thefacedlool2706
@thefacedlool2706 4 жыл бұрын
Super sculpey is good for it. I made a couple of skulls already. You can get good detail if you are actually patient with your work.
@thedarkpower
@thedarkpower 4 жыл бұрын
@@thefacedlool2706 I don't think it's that - I've been using the grey stuff for years and it's always the same way. I don't think it'd be very easy to knead it either given the toughness of it.

@@aimsanimations2905 The only thing I can think of is 'new clay' which is an air drying clay, but it's not particularly nice to work with. It's cheaper than sculpey or monster clay, but still more expensive than regular clay.

It's not that hard - you can sculpt it normally without needing to heat your tools. I have heard that you need to do that for some other sculpting waxes, but not this. I think I do prefer it to medium actually, yeah.
