That is crazy, I was thinking of dinosaurs and KZfaq recommended this to me! Also your video was freaking awesome to watch, clear and straight to the point. It was so fun watching you work on the Rex in Blender and listening how you explained the processed. I've learned a few things from your video, especially for a game asset which is much needed and appreciated. ^-^ Thank you so much for making this video. Keep it up! ♥

I've always been wondering, is it possible that if you sculpt a dinosaur with clay that you're able to take a picture of it and somehow transport it into blender where you can edit it and all that, is it possible to do that or is that with a different program ?
@Frank-kv1tr
@Frank-kv1tr Жыл бұрын
Hi! A bit late but maybe it still helps you. You can use apps like Polycam to take multiple pictures of it from various angles, and then use it in blender. I think it'll be a lot easier if you have an iPhone with LiDAR, but it's not necessary. Good luck!

This is very helpful! I need to ask though, if I wanted to make a dog for some animations, would I have to sculpt the mouth open on the model to be able to animate it to open and close?
@CriticalGiants
@CriticalGiants Жыл бұрын
Personally I would sculpt the mouth open, makes it a lot easier to rig and animate after the fact, but if you sculpt it closed, then you just have to make sure to make an inside of the mouth so there is room to move the mouth. But again Iw ould just sculpt it open, should be easier, but I would only make it half open, so that it is not super deformed when you have to close it again, good luck!

I'm wondering, why not use the sculpted version for rigging as the retopologized version's geometry is equally as dense as the sculpted version? The level of geometry and detail is the same right? Great sculpt by the way, genuinely impressed!
@CriticalGiants
@CriticalGiants 2 жыл бұрын
Because for rigging and animation you need proper edge flows to control how your mesh deforms, and in actuality the rigged model is using the lowest subdivisions, more like 20-40.000 faces this way the rig stays performant. If you were to use the sculpted mesh the rig wouldnt be as perfomant both in terms of how heavy it is to deform many vertices and the actual quality of the deformation. So while you are creation the pose or animation the model is low dubdivs but then using the multires modifier you can set it to upres during rendeirng only. This is the standard practice in the industry for film, for games it is a different story :) Hope this answers the question and thanks!
@DouArts
@DouArts 2 жыл бұрын
@@CriticalGiants Thanks for the explanation! Is there a proper explanation on the actual use of the multires modifier? I always thought of it as a kind of subdivision modifier. Seems like there's more to it
