Having sculpted with hot glue in the early 1980s I learned many things. It is analog 3D printing and can be cast in bronze in a process similar to lost wax casting, "lost hot glue" process. Also there are a lot of opportunities to create modules to build forms.

Ive sculpt with it before too, i made an bird and it really worked out nice. I also used 2 layes of plexiglass and i put hot glue in between them to get like thin sheets of glue and i cut them into feathers. Really like you work! It is a nice artpiece!

You can also brush mica otr powder food coloring in silicon molds and then fill the molds with hot glue. The glue picks up the mica nicely and the glue demolds super easy!

I used to make mini sculptures of the pokemon eevelutions with the hot glue guns. It hurt, but I got used to the heat. I usually waited till they are a bit colder yet not too cold to the point that it's solid. Got a lot of burns, but the sculptures were cute. I was a wierd yet creative kid, but all but one of the sculptures are gone now. One was kept in an old snow globe made by my mom and dad :D (It was the Leafeon one) yep, I molded it as if it was clay. Not like how Jazza did it XD

Love the glue man! I've used hot glue to fix yard ornaments. There were chunks broken off and I had to "string" the holes and slowly fill them in. Then had to "build" it back up to look normal. Everything I've fixed so far looks like new. -expert tip: use a glue gun with a longer tip. You can then smooth it out. (very carefully) Things like knives, toothpicks and tweezers are helpful as well.

As someone who uses this medium quite often in their work a tip I tell people is that if you want a smoother finish you can use a flat metal object such as a knife to smooth out the surface simply by heating it up with a heat gun, hairdryer, candle/lighter, or by leaving it in hot water. If this doesn't work or if you still wish for a smoother finish then most hot glue creations can be sanded. Also if you want your creation to be colourful I find that watered down acrylic paint works quite well and leaves a sort of stained glass effect if you are unable to acquire coloured hot glue sticks or find them too expensive.

I’ve tried sculpting with a hot glue gun before. *this man has some patience*

You can actually get a more even texture to the glue, if you rub a flat object over it while it's still molten hot. Something like a credit card could work. It's a technique hobbyists in the Ball Jointed Doll community use when they're creating rubbery hot glue grippers between the joints of their dolls to help with posability. You put a little glue and the quickly rub it down so the joints still sit flush with each other. Combined with cutting and trimming the excess bits off like you did while you were dabbling, you could concievably get something pretty intricate. It'd just take a looooot of practice. Your little glue guy turned out pretty awesome, either way! :V I like the effect of the drippies hanging off of him, and the little hands were SO GOOD!
