I’m a die hard habs fan. At no point did I think we would get a “kings ransom” for Allen 😂 very pleased with the return when we were desperate to move a goalie

@@RB-wg3qm I mean I disagree on the "going nowhere" stance for next season, but that's why they play the games. This was the szn from hell and they still won't end up missing the dance by much. That 80 something overall has a 25-30% of becoming anything tbf, but I hope it hits for y'all. No cap. Idc about "winning" a trade, I care about what my team gets actually helping them move forward. And I like MTL, got nothing against y'all.

@@jeffa.7618 I think this is a fair trade for both to be honest. We really needed to get rid of a goalie. His biggest asset was helping our other 2 goalies. I want him to succeed. He was a giant for us, and deserves a better supporting cast than we have now.

Funny how most Habs fans are quite happy with this one. He’s had his worst season on record. Nobody was expecting any interest in him. There were circumstances, but look at the stats and compare to the other goalies in MTL.

I'm a Habs fan and I have no idea why Steve though Allen would be worth a kings ransom. Happy with the deal, I think it's a good chance it becomes a 2nd round pick.

"I think the team who should be disapointed with this deal, obviously, is the Montreal Canadiens." Excuse me ? I would've been happy with a 5th rounder. Nothing against Allen, he's been a great mentor for Montembeault in Montreal, and this season has been rough for him, in good part because of the "menage à trois". But I think I can speak for the entire fanbase when I say: getting a conditionnal 3rd for him is a freakin' good move. Nobody expected a 'kings ransom'. Not this year, not before (when he wasn't even on the market, so I don't know what Steve is talking about here). And with Edmundon's retention clear next season, Habs regain a retention spot, so that's not even an issue.

What makes it fine is that the conditions could make it a 2nd round pick. Which is not so bad for a goalie that realistically is not part of the plan in MTL

I wonder how many people have untreated sleep apnea ? I mean how can a person afford a 2 k to 3 k dollars CPAP machine without benefits. Even with benefits all of it is not covered.

As a die hard Habs fan, i have not heard ANYONE upset by the return. He was out 3rd out of 3, and most expensive. We wanted to give the other 2: youngsters a shot, but the truth if the matter is none if these 3 arecthe solution.

As a Habs fan, I'm satisfied. The trio rotation in net is now over which gets both Snacks and Primes more starts and we got something in return for someone who was clearly not part of our future longterm. He struggled for a big part of the season so anything more than a second would have been a surprise. I wish Jake the Snake the best, he was a real pro and greatly appreciated by everyone.

the Game plan is these two aquired goalies as just backup Goalies for next season. Fitz was pursuing Markstrom & Ullmark the costing price was too one sided that would cost Devs 1st rd picks & Mercer also Holtz. Offseason is when Devils get their guy & more with FA'S

Being a habs fan I think hughes did a good job and if the devils don't end up getting a better goalie in the off season it will end up being a 2nd. Considering the low ball offer of a 6th round pick the leafs offered for a decent goalie who is having a rough season but could turn it around on a better team hughes deserves a thumbs up for holding his ground and getting at worst a 3rd. Now the ridiculous three goalie tandem saga is over and montreals goalies can give more games to their future goalies and move on from Allen. I say it was a great trade for both teams.

Jake Allen trade is a masterclass trade we somehow get a 2nd as well ( 40 games played and playoff spot ) next season. Keeping Allen stopped us from developing Primeau . This trade is a great trade . I thought Allen had no values

It's not a "masterclass" you goof. This is two fold...a NJ GM who is totally inept & Marty Brodeur who works in the NJ front office wanted Allen because they used to play together. This was a "masterclass" in front office ineptitude in NJ

I’m a habs fan, and idk anyone that was expecting anything of value back for Jake Allen this season, let alone a ‘king’s ransom’ 😅 I like him, but he’s been outplayed by both Montembeault and Primeau, and he’s been taking games away from those two. The Habs were in a bad situation, and the fact that they got a half decent pick and arguably freed up $1.9m against the cap next season, I’d say they did pretty well in this deal

Devils season is headed one of two ways: 1: Don’t make the playoffs; too little, too late (far more likely) 2: Miraculous run to the playoffs and carry that momentum in with them into a possible deep run. I would find it funny if yet ANOTHER unlikely team ends up in the SCF or something crazy like that.

If the devils play him a lot it’s a 2nd, now the habs don’t need to keep three goalies, and the habs 2 retention spots other than the allen one free up in the off season. I wish Allen all the best in NJ. But it was long overdue to see him go. Happy for the return and the deal.

I get this trade if it’s a trial for Jake. Maybe they use the remaining 19 games to see if Jake fits, if not, take another run at Markstrom in the off-season

It's not a trial. NJ actually expects him to play and stick with the team. He is Marty's ole St. Louis buddy and Marty is in the front office. The whole deal is garbage

@@yoholmes273 "Trust the process"😅 I think he was so sure he had a deal in place (or would get one done) for Markstrom that he completely screwed himself and the team out of getting a cheaper bargain option until it was too late. I think his failures to this point will make him motivated to close on a deal, more than ever. I guess the other part is I just have to hope he actually comes through this time, but his job security will be in question if he doesn't deliver, and they have another year with no playoffs/minimal progress. Keep in mind, its a 892 on a shitty habs team so given that context, they made out pretty good
