Calgary has always been scared of the word "rebuild", they always love these retools or as their previous GM said to "we can win while rebuilding at the same time". The Tkachuk trade was the epitome of that mentality. They traded Tkachuk for a player who's 5 years older and will command a max deal a year from now when he'll be 30 years old. Adding Huberdeau doesn't offset the losses they incurred this off season. As soon as Goudreau left and Tkachuk asked for a trade, that should have triggered a rebuild. They should have asked for Lundell and picks from Florida. Huberdeau is just a lateral move. Calgary loves mediocrity and sneaking into the playoff picture.

They also get a prospect AND a 1st for the risk that neither guy re-signs, and CGY still has plenty of Cap to re-sign Mangiapane, and bring on some forwards like Kadri, Kessel, Stastny, Rodrigues, or Milano.

Lol.. Tkachuk wasn't the man in calgary, nor was it gaudreau.. The real deal was lindholm. I watched all the flames games, live near edmonton. I can tell you as of right now, both tkaplunk and Gaudreau won't get anywhere near the points they did this year. They'll end up with around 70 points each. Lindholm did all the work. Fighting in the corners, getting the turnovers. I will laugh when everyone realizes how bad these two are when someone else isn't pulling their weight.
