What about the scene at the leather shop prior to the Lust victim scene. There was a man standing outside the shop with an umbrella for an extended period of time while Pitt and Freeman were questioning the shop owner? Could that be John Doe?

Same diner in lots of other movies.. where Denzel and Ethan first meet in training day..I googled it.. it’s closed now but it’s been in lots of movies.

You could say yes at the bar scene as when Mills leaves money at the counter when hes walking away as some customer is looking at Mills while standing in the crowd.

Highly debatable, my good sir. He was proven to be smart enough to wear a disguise when they saw him on the stairwell pretending to be a reporter. Plus you get a nice still frame shot of his profile at the end of this clip and it doesn't really look like him.

probably just a coincidence that one of the extras kinda looks like john doe. probably a coincidence that his hair is the same buzz cut. these things happen. of course like you said john doe with smart and we do have photographic evidence that he followed his potential victims before hand. and it was after John Doe had already gotten Mills photo and name in the stairway. that does kind of fit in the character of john doe. so what we got here we've established that John Doe follows his victims selects his victims and we have a guy going in to the café that looks a lot like John Doe. so what's more likely: that it's just a coincidence or that may actually be John Doe played by Kevin Spacey.
