This is the thorough review that ive wanted for the FishSkiff 16. No other review goes over the stability or the level of detail you went into about the usable space.

No one ever mentions, although you eluded to set up times, the whole experience with transportation. First off, it is a heavy and awkward (almost) 90 pounds to move while deflated and not as easy to do which is dependent on strength and age (for one person). As far as using it as a portable boat, going out obviously requires loading into your vehicle, unloading at site, inflation (about 35-45 minutes with one electric pump). Then after some time on the water, deflation, rolling it up, lifting and loading it into the vehicle again and driving home. Once home, naturally you have to unload it one more time, for a total of 4X lifting this thing and its motor. You have back issues, I wouldn't recommend. Lastly, the majority of owners of this boat, of which I am one, ultimately will get a trailer solely for the above stated reasons. It is a fun and stable boat. Great honest review, there is a lot to like about it. I do feel by the time you get a 9.9hp motor (many do), the weight of the motor (about 60 lbs for a 5-6 hp, or 95 lbs for a 9.9), you will have spent as much or more than you would have for a used, well equipped 12'-14' boat that already comes with a trailer in most cases. Again, great little boat, but the weigh of everything can just make it less enjoyable to use, hence again, why the majority get a trailer.

I agree that setting up and tearing down each time would be more difficult. I transport it fully inflated on my truck rack and throw the motor in the bed or on a trailer so I am dealing with the full set up and honestly, with a cart, I feel it is pretty easy to maneuver. I am not trailering it like a normal boat and can move it around at home and to the water with a kayak cart while fully rigged as I had it in the video. I feel this is the real advantage to this boat and having the ultimate option to store delayed if needed. If you are setting up and tearing down each time and can sacrifice the capacity, something like an inflatable kayak or the FishSup might be a better choice. Great feedback!

Fantastic review. I wish this was available before I bought mine, I'm glad I took the chance and bought it. Great skiff, lightweight and durable. Tons of fun. I had a 6hp on mine and it felt like I needed a bit more with 2 adults, put a 9.9 on it and works great! SeaEagle customer service is great as well. I've had 2, 200lb+ adults on it and no stability issues at all.

My 3rd one gets here tomorrow. WARNING: Do not leave these in the heat, over 90 degrees, while tied down with cargo straps! Mine blew out at the Seams(unrepairable), the first time the boat was in warranty(inflated to 15 psi), so it was replaced by Sea Eagle. 4 years later, I had it inflated to 14 psi, tied down by cargo straps(from side to side across the whole boat), stopped at my friend's house, the boat was in the sun(95*), BOOM!! It blew out at the seams on one of the side chambers. So, lessons learned; 1) DO NOT inflate to the full psi during hot summer days(13 psi will be fine). 2) DO NOT tie down across the tops of side chambers from side to side of trailer (tie down on the front winch ring, the rear lift handles- keeping the tie downs on just one side of the trailer, and then finally tying off to the side chambers handles without crossing the whole boat(you want to keep the pressure off the chambers). I love this boat! It is perfect for fly fishing while standing and drifting rivers and running lakes and hopefully later this year I get to take it to the Gulf and fish the coast near Destin! I would recommend this boat 10/10! This boat is super stable for an inflatable! BONUS: Sea Eagle is an excellent company that stands behind their products! Great video! Thank you!

Awesome info and thanks for sharing. I have been looking at these as a replacement for my Solo Skiff (so I can take it on road trips to TN, CO, and NY to visit family members...but still fish because fishing is life. LOL!). I like that I would be able to deflate it and throw it in the back of the truck or in a camper/RV but still have it to use. Also, I live about thirty minutes west of Destin (in Navarre) so if you get down this way, let me know and maybe we can get out and catch some redfish, trout, flounder, and whatever else wants to play. I only fish inshore because I get seasick but luckily there's plenty of inshore fishing here. LOL! I think this boat would be great for offshore as well since it would be so easy to launch from the beach but still have the stability to get back through the breakers and to fight some red snapper, etc out there off shore.

I’ve been debating on either getting this or the Blackfoot angler kayak. Conflicted on the size difference but it’s nice to see a good video on this boat finally

Thanks for checking it out! I have a trailer so it makes the bigger size no issue for me, but I think it comes down to your uses. I love having the ability to take family and my dog!

Wow! What a great walkthrough and you covered just about everything...well, I can't think of anything else. LOL! I have been considering replacing my Solo Skiff with one of these so I can take it on road trips to be able to get in some fishing and sightseeing from the water wherever we go. Definitely on my short list. I would love to see another update once you have the motor fully broken in and especially if you take it out where there are some bigger waves. I fish the inshore waters here in the FL Panhandle but the Santa Rosa Sound runs mostly east/west and prevailing winds like to come from the southeast/southwest/northwest so even on a lower wind day, the waves build and can get a little rough. My Solo Skiff is self bailing but it's a very wet ride. This seems like it might be a bit drier but I am curious about that as well. Thanks again!!
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler Ай бұрын
Thanks!! Yea I think it is a pretty dry ride and I have had it in some decent chop. The gas motor pushes it about 10-11mph from what I can tell. Still only doing short burst at full throttle though. A 9.9 would fly.

Max PSI in the water is safe! Because you have the water as a cooler. If you pull the boat out of the water it is recommended release some air 1 to 2 psi out.
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler 17 күн бұрын
For sure. I typically inflate a few below max regardless still very rigid!

@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler 20 күн бұрын
Honestly I have not had it in really rough conditions but I really think it would handle it just fine within reason. I would take it out on a small craft advisory kind of day but I wouldn’t take any small skiff out.

Does a regular kayak cart fit to launch the boat?
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler Ай бұрын
Yes, at least the Yakattack BarCart did. I simply turned the bars perpendicular to the boat and rolled it. Even with the motor on it weighs less than a ProAngler.
@intoy__
@intoy__ Ай бұрын
I currently have the Paddleski but considering upgrading to this one. I don't like the idea of trailering it since the reason I'm going inflatable is for portability. Is it easy to retrieve the boat once you're done fishing from a regular boat ramp? Assuming the trolling motor and battery have been unloaded. Thanks!
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler Ай бұрын
I can lift the hull by myself. Also a kayak cart will do the job even with the motor still on there. It really doesn’t way much more than a fully rigged kayak does. I carried this boat on top of my truck inflated and just removed the seats and gear. I was able to load it by myself too.
@TheAcallejas
@TheAcallejas Ай бұрын
I have one of these along with their Easy Cart. What I do it walk into the water until ankle deep and toss the Easy Cart behind the skiff and pull it until it's just under. I then just walk it out of the ramp. Same with launching. Very easy

Since it’s 16 ft, it must be registered and have a state registration number plate attached correct?
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler Ай бұрын
In NC, yes. If you are motorizing any vessel it has to be registered. Mine is but the permanent numbers and NC sticker had not come in when I filmed the video.

How shallow can you go?? Jet boat shallow? 6-10 in
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler 24 күн бұрын
It floats in around 6” I would guess. It probably runs in 10. Or very close to it. Just make sure you get a short shaft motor to do this.

can you add more seats?
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler 24 күн бұрын
Yes. It is available in the three seat configuration and the only difference I can see is where you attach the seat to the frame holding. Should be as easy as moving one over and installing one beside it.

How many have torn? Because it's inflatable, it doesn't seem durable.

I have two inflatable kayaks, this inflatable skiff, and two inflatable rafts. I have never torn any of them. I got a couple of pin holes in one from sharp fish fins, but it took days to leak down and I was able to patch it really easy
