We were hapless tour guides for this walk and wild swim. We had such a laugh with the awesome Gez from Boyz in The Wood channel and Nick from Valley Camper NR. They were the absolute best, great lads with a massive passion for the outdoors, go have a peek at their channels if you get a minute, links at the bottom of this description.
We started at a free carpark...of course.... in a small carpark at the top end of Acton village (BH19 3JY) from here we walked down, through the village and followed the lovely Priest's Way Path towards Keates Quarries to look at the National Trust's Spyway Dinosaur Footprints. We showed the lads the well preserved, 140 million year old sauropod's footprints.
From here we walked up to Spyway barn, a smugglers hideout, before walking down to the sea and the popular Dancing Ledge. The quarried ledge is used for many leisure activities such as tombstoning, rock climbing and fishing, but even better than that, a swimming pool has been blasted into the limestone, every high tide it gets refreshed with sea water, pretty awesome! We all went into the sea pool for a nice little swim.
Once we had dried off we started walking West along the Jurassic Coast to show them the quarried caves, and the dramatic Winspit Quarry, used for a backdrop in Starwars.
Really cracking day in a beautiful place, can not wait to meet up with these two again, hearts of gold.
