In this episode of my series “ Walks in Dorset”, I take a walk from Langton Matravers and explore Dancing Ledge - as well as some Dinosaur footprints! Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.
I park my car at the National Trust “Spyway” car park which is located to the South of the village of Langton Matravers (which in turn is about 2 miles West of Swanage on the Jurassic Coast).
My 4 mile circular walk begins with a wander along an old track called Priests Way and very soon I come across Keates Quarry where there are the remains of footprints made by Dinosaurs many millions of years.
I then head South to Seacombe Quarry on the coast before joining the South West Coast Path and heading East towards the disused quarry at Dancing Ledge. It is a magical place to explore and just watch the waves crashing against the rocks.
My homeward journey takes me up to a ridge that looks over an area known as Scratch Arse Bottom
(seriously!) and then back the Spyway car park.
I finish off my walk with a wander through Langton Matravers, visiting the church (inside & out), before reaching my final destination - the Kings Arms pub.
