Sea Trout in Rivers - Spin fishing

With English subtitles - choose under settings icon. Thomas Mosgaard is a biologist, and he has a very deep knowledge regarding the behaviour of the sea trout and its holding spots.
He has great experience catching seatrout in rivers, and we tag along as he fishes a number of smaller rivers in Jutland. Thomas especially puts emphasis on how to catch sea trout during the day hours - but we are invited along for some evening- and night fishing too.
We fish up and down the rivers while Thomas tells us about fishing techniques and the holding spots that we come across.
The film is about fishing spoons, spinners and wobblers - and how to fish them most effectively. We see a lot of dramatic and hectic fights with beautiful sea trout - and we are there when Thomas catches a strong salmon.
It is a film filled with great tips and facts, intense fights and beautiful scenery along the rivers.

In Britain we told to spin very fast for seatrout, yet this expert spins slow. This is very interesting.

Thomas Moesgaard is mostly casting upstream, and he fishes the lure or the spinner just a bit faster than the current, and close to he bottom. Tight lines from the camera man 😊

@@WideOpenOutdoorFilm Yes, we mostly fish upstream too. But he's fishing a slow river and we are told to reel spinner very fast ( rather like the guys do in your saltwater videos ). So it's very interesting.

I think the fight of the Atlantic Salmon is Overrated!! As I see these Sea-Run Brown Trout seem to be fighting every bit as much!! During my College days, when I did part time guiding for Steelhead and 4 species of Salmon in Oregon, I met a Very nice fisheries biologist from Denmark, who was here to learn Radio Telemetry from a Professor at Oregon State University, well respected for Radio Telemetry!! At the time I met Nels, he was fishing one of our best Summer Steelhead rivers near Portland Oregon, and had already caught a Small Summer Steelhead on a Spinner!! And without me even asking his voiced his opinion, he said, "These Steelhead fight harder than Atlantic Salmon"!! I've lost his Business Card, and if you're in Denmark and could possibly find out who the biologist was who traveled to Oregon in 1979, I would be indebted to you for life, as I would like to see him and perhaps fish with him in Scandinavia 😊 I'm a retired Fish Pathologist, and presently an Outdoor and Science writer. As a youngster, I caught Monstrous Sea-Run Brown Trout of the Southern Caspian Sea!! When I was a young teenager, I tied a fly with Aluminum Foil and some Neon yarn from my mother and caught a 40 Kg. Sea Trout of Caspian Sea in a river, and the long fight, almost became a chore!! They are Salmo trutta caspius!! And were often larger than Taimen!! Infact there were Taimen there as well but they became extinct from netting for them!!

It should be possible to locate him. You wrote that Nels is his name. Sure it wasn't Niels? Or Nils? Do you have any other info? Age would be helpful.

You must be a troll - Seatrout NEVER reach 40KG and as far as Steelhead vs Atlantic, there is no contest. The Atlantic salmon is much better sport.

And he doesnt use net?! Here in Britain, we told that seatrout cant be handled by the tail like a salmon, but this guy has no problem!

Does he only fish after rain? It is not clear in video?

No, Thomas does not only fish after rain, but it is much, much better fishing in the days after rain, and specially in the small rivers he is fishing. Tight lines from the camera man😊
