In this video I split the Sealco air start valve apart, clean and lubricate the parts, and put it back together.

Greta explanation on the operation of the air start solenoid always assumed they were electric maybe in later years thanks for sharing 🦘

No worries Kerry. I should’ve mentioned that the air in the 1/4” signal line can either come from a push button or a key operated electric over air solenoid

Thanks Mick 🙏🏻 the valves are fairly simple. At some stage I will do a video about splitting the starter motor and touch on the manual and solenoid control for the valve I showed in this video

Well that sure brings back memories. I used to own one of these trucks in the mid eighties running Sydney, Canberra, Albury. I once had the muffler for the starter fall off somewhere near Gundagai and when I hit the starter after unloading in canberra, I nearly jumped out the door. Thought the bloody thing had exploded.

Thanks for your story mate. They make a hell of a racket without the muffler on. Dad had a coolpower F model and you could hear it start from about 3kms away without the muffler on it. Where did your truck end up?

@@oldrigsdownunder7301 Last I heard a mate spotted it in Wollongong. It was painted black, and had "Duchess" painted above the windscreen and a pussy cat either side under the windscreen. When I got it someone had fitted a 320 coolpower engine. Good old truck.

Years ago I saw a nun escorting a bunch of school girls across a pedestrian crossing when a bloke in a B series Mack livened em up with the air start.

They were very common on Macks in Australia between 1955 and 1992. The majority of them were air start

Couldn’t get just the fittings you wanted? Sounds familiar, when I go for hydraulic fittings it seems no matter how many they have there are never quite exactly what you want.

That’s exactly right Geoffery. It seems different to 10-15 years ago. I thought those fittings would be sitting on the shelf at a couple of places, but in the end I was lucky to come away with what I did

Finished planting a couple weeks ago, catching up on videos while I've been working on a white road xpeditor 2 with a na caterpillar 3208 in it got it running but have an issue with a bent linkage. From the accelerator pedal compound to the engine throttle and atf pump cable compound there's a telescoping throttle cable linkage with a return spring mounted on the side, was wondering if you have seen one and or know what it is actually called to find one. Mines got seized and bent so when the cabs down the motor goes for a full pull.

Actually I have a friend who is more experienced in metal who was able to bend it back straight tube and all. Now I'm waiting for a shifter cable. Took a short video of it and uploaded but I'm not too good with the camera.

Howdy from the Northwoods of Minnesota, Love and Respect All Freind just bought a Freighshaker 903 V8 with air starter. Seems to dump all air from tank . Starter don't stop when button released. Told him to check if valve in dash venting off when released. Steve sent me to this video. What's your thoughts on it? I assume valve in dash has to vent off

G’day mate how are you? Sounds like your friend has a really interesting truck there. Take the 1/4” line off the top of the relay valve on the tank, and make sure that air comes out of the hose while your hand is on the button or turning the key. And then make sure the air stops as soon as you take your hand off the button or key. If that air signal supply is working correctly then the problem will be in the big relay valve on the tank. The piston might be sticky inside it and not returning correctly

@@oldrigsdownunder7301 thank you. Will pass on. It's a 79 fld120 Freighshaker. Clean older truck. Run 1000 miles didn't take any oil n oil stayed clean. There rebuild papers in cab from the 90s, don't think it was used much after. Run strong n no trouble but 2 flats on rear. Old recaps that were weather checked n almost bald. Was an awesome trip. Went across Mackinaw bridge, 28 feet short of 5 miles. Sent Steve pictures. Thanks for troubleshooting information, keep the greasy side down and have fun
