I’ve been really impressed from what I’ve seen from TAG so far. It will be interesting to see if the countless people who cry about graders having a “bad day”, etc feel after they get a truly non bias opinion on their cards from TAG. I think TAG has a bright future and a place in the hobby. I have never said this about any new grading company but there should be no reason TAG doesn’t become an industry monster.

I hope TAG gets some steam for the exact reason you mention. I don’t know if they will though - I can’t even find cards for sale on eBay from them. I wonder how much volume they do a month. Great video! Also, cool Oura ring. Would be curious what your experience has been like with that. Essentially what needs to happen is TAG needs to become the new PSA. They're doing things the way it should be done. It will likely take decades and it may never completely change, but I think a data driven approach is just the correct way to do card grading. I actually would put a premium on any TAG slab for the archival quality and grading process. That's not to say I won't ever buy or grade with anyone else but right now, TAG is the future of graded sports cards. Not to mention, their submission process and customer service is top notch. It's a no brainer for me when it comes to spending my hard earned dollars. To answer your question, I view a TAG 10 on the same level as a PSA 10 (regardless of subgrades) and their P10 is above a PSA 10. Will other collectors view things this way? Who knows? Personally, what other collectors think right now isn't entering my calculus. Maybe it's irrational to look at it this way but for me, in 100 years when my slabs are in someone else's hands, I want them to be able to access data about my card in particular. PSA cannot offer that. I think that will matter to collectors in 100 years.
@NicoSportscards
@NicoSportscards Жыл бұрын
This is awesome feedback thank you! As for the oura ring..I have a love hate relationship with it. I love the sleep data. It’s probably the first thing I look at when wake up. The scoring system really gets you hooked on trying to optimize your sleep . So in that respect - it’s great. That said - I have found that the sleep score it gives me will determine how I feel the rest of the day. High score - feel alert. Low score - feel tired. That may seem like the ring is working but I think it may be more reflexive than predictive. Meaning - if I see a low score - I convince myself I didn’t sleep well and therefor feel tired. And vice versa. I could talk about this for ages because I’ve run a lot of mini experiments with it and I think there is for sure a placebo effect. The only thing I wish they had was real time data on pulse and body temp; other than that - it’s great

Looked up the Brady out of curiosity. They caught the surface issues. As might be expected, it seems they identified them and reduced your grade on the surface. However, they weren’t deemed major, which aligns with the idea you needed 50X magnification to actually see the flaws. If anything, I’d be more confident in the “10” and overall grade on that card than any grade PSA maybe has ever given.
@NicoSportscards
@NicoSportscards Жыл бұрын
If they had scale and everyone used their reports - I think they could really make the relative grading scores really attractive. I think the problem is that people will see this slab next to PSA and SCG and not know what to do. But theoretically if they had the whole market - they have the right grading model. Pretty interesting on how they graded the Brady tho.
@mc386106
@mc386106 Жыл бұрын
@@NicoSportscards I could see that. I do think technology has to take on a bigger role at some point. Even TAG from what I read has a person reviewing reports, so the human element isn’t 0, just much smaller. If TAG doesn’t take off, it might be my go to for PC since looking through everything so far has made me feel confident their grades are the highest quality on the market right now.
@Feelsbad1

@@NicoSportscards Knowing how people can be, your worry about these next to a PSA or SCG is valid. But with TAG, they are very transparent on why you got the grade you got from what I've seen. I'm pretty excited for TAG and the future for them and the hobby. Also pretty excited to see what breakers do with the packs.
@NippyNap2
@NippyNap2 Жыл бұрын
Great reveal! So IMO a PSA 10 vs a TAG 925-955 may sell at a 9.5bgs level. Or higher than a psa9. However a pristine 975+ could and should sell higher than a PSA10 and in line with pristine BGS. Anything in between (955-974) should be in line with PSA10 as they are showing their work and reasoning. The market will eventually dictate this but it won’t be overnight. I want reproducibility and not submit or cross over to get a grade. Mostly for PC too. Also, I could see TAG as a big 3 in the next 5 years. PSA at the top and then SGC and TAG. If PSA had reinvested some of their massive profit to move the hobby forward I would be more sympathetic. But TAG is actually putting their money and patents to work to help the hobby and collector/sellers.

You should have check your card on their grading portal on ones that you disagree with and maybe it did find something wrong. Like I can look it up and noticed it was front surface score of 891 was the biggest downgrading... but on your camera, we can't notice because of YT compression... but there was 5 surface things the computer picked up. Now do they exist or not, I can't tell... but you can review it. I think I would prefer this transparency in the industry though on grades like TAG is doing. And we don't know the detailed grading that the others do to round up or down a grade. I feel this is a better system to know then a blank "why is it a 9 grade?" we all feel opening graded stuff.
@NicoSportscards

Good advice . I went on and looked. The level of detail is amazing. There are some issues that I wouldn’t have picked up. I like the transparency but I do think any issue should be visible to the human eye. If they pick up stuff you can’t even see under a loupe then it may be going too far

I really like the laser etched label. Feels WAY cleaner than any of the other ones. I don't have a clue where it lands price wise, but I think it's lower just due to them being a new company. I think the computer algorithm is helpful, but I honestly wonder if including the full score is harmful in the long run, just due to how nitpicky graders could be on that. I think the ones that get above 960, 965 could be considered true gems closer to a BGS 10. I think if they do take off, the pricing will end up similar to how good subgrades on a BGS label will add value, and low subgrades will subtract value. A 10 that's a 931 will be worth less than a 10 that's a 958 as a random guess. I really do like this though, the packaging is some top notch stuff, and really makes it a whole experience that feels like they actually give a shit.
@mc386106

If their grading system is determined to be consistent and high quality, then there should be a difference in price between a 931 card with a general 10 score and a 958 card with a general 10 score. I like the idea of truly separating the generally good card from the elite card.

But the PC missed stuff too... It seems to me that he's trying to tell us that some of these cards are flawed and yet they're getting 10s... Part of the whole thing is human error as well. We keep going away from humans and going to machines for everything. Now. I don't disagree that this is pretty cool it is but I won't be using. This company based on. Doesn't seem to be as accurate as it should be. And I'm not a big fan of the super clear cases cuz all it takes is one fingernail and that case is now scratched. Whereas PSA has that. I think this is the company I saw Loot Locker try out as well. I like the sealed results. Makes it fun and better probably for those of you that have channels. Also, agree with the breaker aspect. The guy I watch already does graded cards, but right now has to put them in bubble envelopes to reveal. I'm not a big fan of the rest however. Do NOT like the idea of the "vending machine" thing. Would be nice if they could just maybe sell some aspects to like PSA. The machine would cut down on human error, but don't like the grading system at all. PSA could use mechanical grading, seal the graded cards and then it'd be about perfect. That was a lot of fun to watch. With the fickleness of graders I love the objective approach, but I would love to understand whatever formula is used. I'm less concerned about the 3 digit grade. I think the vast majority of folks care only about "big" grade. The 3 digit grade is more for transparency. I've bought a PSA 10 card from eBay but when I got it saw white corners and bad edges. I'm sure it would be no better than a 7 if I'd crack it and regrade it. We all know a PSA grade is semi arbitrary but with TAG it potentially isn't. As OCD collectors psychologically we want a card to be a 10 regardless of how the sausage is made.
@NicoSportscards
@NicoSportscards Жыл бұрын
Totally agree, there is definitely potential here. They just need to get scale. If we can start seeing 10-20% of card show cases filled with TAG cards, then I think they go big very fast bc I agree that all else equal - 3 digit grades is better than 1 but only when you can compare it to other 3 digit grades. Great comment though - thank you

Why does it sound like you are hunting for something negative to say? If you can't see the flaw in the Brady without being under a 50x why would you tell people not to bid on it? That is so Microsoft and if the computer software can't see it why would you say negative things about it? Then you said one should have been your highest grade and it was a 9??? Maybe the issue is you? I'm not casting shade bro but you are just looking for a reason to tear these guys apart? I think they look great and it's time for a change that's more affordable and convenient. Just saying PS. WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING WHAT DO YOU DO WITH A 931?? IF IT'S A 10 THEN IT'S A 10? YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. YOU TRYING TO HARD TO COMPARE APPLES TO ORANGES

I like it from the front but not the back. It ruined the reveal. But the core part of the case is really nice I gotta give them that

Thanks for sharing! I am not a fan of this. They're making it way too complicated. In fact, it's going to be almost impossible to get a 100. And even though it's a computer, it's still missing things. I feel we got to stop leaning on computers so much. Part of this hobby is the human interaction.

The only AI grading I trust is the shoebox box app for prescreen on iPhone actual graders from the top companies designed the system they were at the national cool dudes. I wouldn’t trust tag or another of these other random companies unless I knew they had experienced graders from one of the top companies setting the grading standards.

Not a fan of this company, I like that you get your cards back individually wrapped but I don’t like the fact that it’s graded 100% by computers, I think there’s a human element you need in grading, I’d rather buy psa any day then a card by this company.

They over grade like crazy I don’t see them being around very long when they have a bunch of pissed customers. I had a card come back from tag as a 4 I cracked it sent to Psa came back a 9.

For my fellow-adult-beverage-drinkers out there, I make the comparison of grading card companies to beer manufacturers/producers; You're *NEVER* going to be able to ..... _LEGITIMATELY_ "compete" with the Anheiser Busch, Coors, etc., but there's some....."micro brew" card grading companies out there that have a comparatively....." _DECENT_ " product. However,...at the end of the day, if your end-goal is to "flip"/invest/maximize your investment(s), then *HANDS DOWN* ,.... *BAR NONE* ,...the *ONE AND ONLY* company to submit your cards to, is *Professional Sports Authenticators* !! Case, closed....end of subject,....no debate.

SGC IS STILL BETTER THAN THESE JOKE COMPANIES, JUST SAYING. SGC is $18/card if you send in bulk, you have cards graded back in hand in 15 days or less.
I tried TAG Grading my sports cards so you don't have to
