In this video I’ll share with you how I knit seamless underarms in a top down sweater without holes or gaps and without any extra stitches to cover up those holes. I included all my tips and tricks to make knitting easy and fun.
I analyzed my past knits, tweaked this method, and already used it in several of my sweaters. I think it's the best cast on method for the underarm stitches. And the gaps/holes are closed securely and neatly.
The algorithm of this method is easily repeatable with predictable results. So you’ll be able to always make very neat looking and also seamless underarms.
It turned out to be a very long step-by-step tutorial, so I divided it into three episodes. This video is Part 2 of 3.

Thank you for explaining this technique so well. Excellent, clear visual too. Just used it on my ‘nola’ cardigan. Also very glad to now have a method that gives an even number of stitches for sleeves and odd for body so i get a central ‘seam’ stitch. Happy New Year from NZ. 😀

This is absolutely the best underarm technique! I have watched many and ended up just doing what I felt closed the gaps best for me but I love neatness and now I have found it. The provisional cast on is perfection. Thank you so much for your attention to the details. I have also used markers to hold the stitches from stretching but you showed a stronger way to do it.

Hello Irina! I used your technique in a sweater i am knitting. Not the same construction (a round yoke instead of a raglan), but it worked like a charm. Absolutely wonderful!
