Seamus Casey is one of the silkiest defenseman to come along in quite some time. He had a big season playing for the Florida Alliance U16 team and also represented USA at the Youth Olympics earlier this year. Casey will suit up for the USDP U17 this fall.

I am a referee in South Florida and knew him as an even younger player. His talent on the ice is nothing compared to how nice, well mannered, and respectful he was to his teammates, coaches, opponents, and the officials.

He's doing stuff at the blue line he'd get dusted for at high levels. It's a highlight machine, but not smart hockey every time he does it.

@@pucksaver95 exactly, toe dragging the other team at the blue line is not smart at all, yeah he gets away with it since the other kids are not that good and it makes him look better, but in a higher level of hockey the coaches aren't going to be impressed by that, especially when he turns the puck over and they get scored on...

When you always have the puck and you score 3 goals a game isn't that defense? We know what way hockey has gone in terms of defenseman. When was the last time you ever seen the Norris go to a defensive defenseman? Oh right, never.

It's stupid for these kids not to if they are actually that good or are they are just good in highlight reels? To me, he looks like a winger that is too good for his age group so he's like imma go D so we have 4 forwards out there haha

@@alexanderclark6936 This isn't entirely true - his path is a typical one for NHL prospects in North America but the highest possible level for his age would be going to Europe and turning pro before his draft year. This is what Auston Matthews did, and it's a very rare path for USA-born players. EDIT: I forgot to mention that it's incredibly difficult for them, and they normally get tossed. If a 17 year old does well in an EU premiere pro league, even if it's over something like 15 - 20 games, they get drafted top 10 ez

within the first 54 seconds i see a big resemblance to cale makar. roughly the same size and elite skating and puck handling. and for him not just at the blue line, in many places

Nice hands but can he play D? You want to shut him down? Seperate the man from the puck. Don't watch the puck...stare at his chest and put your shoulder right in the solar plexus. Go straight at him and don't fall for his toe drags. Forget the puck. One of your team mates can take care of that.

when coach said "third guy high" it didn't mean he's on meth.. couple easy gino's there if he had his head up. But that will come when he plays against men. You could probably take the best kid in house league in any Canadian city and they would skate around these Florida kids like that too lol. But his hands are as fast as his feet and that is definitely promising.

from what I'm seeing. he's a meh skater ( speed wise) but he's got nice agility which seems to make up for it. he's got nice vision too. he seems to be a Ryan merkly type player. high-risk high reward type player. would probably be better as a winger

Smooth skater with slick hands but as he gets older he’s going to have stop with the dangles. Someone will put their shoulder through his chest. A lot of moves his head is down but he is good and with age he will mature and get bigger and stronger.
