Sean Harris

Жыл бұрын

Welcome one and all to a glimpse into the life of Sean Harris, former lead singer and founding member of Diamond Head. Sean has been quiet for the past 20 years, working tirelessly on his craft and "growing up with his family".
Diamond Head brought you Lightning To The Nations, the infamous debut album with hit songs such as Am I Evil, Helpless and It's Electric. All of which were covered by Metallica in their formative years. As years went by, Sean stepped out of the public eye to focus on his art. Now he is back, and ready to share his latest music with the world.
In this exclusive interview, he talks about his journey and a glimpse into what happened to cause the breakaway from Diamond Head. He also gives us a sneak peek into what is to come with his upcoming music releases.
So, sit back, relax and enjoy.
Thank you to

Damn, I’m so happy that you’re still active! Being a 17 year old singer myself I absolutely admire you! We even cover ‘Call Me’ live every time we perform live, and Diamond Head is a huge inspiration whenever we write our songs! Never understood why you guys weren’t up there while you absolutely destroyed the competition. Hope you read this Sean, big fan!

How Diamond Head didn't become big stars still has me baffled. As a kid growing up in Australia in the pre internet age, I bought the Borrowed Time album when I was 14 on the basis of a Kerrang review. I totally loved it. A couple years later in 1984, I first heard a young Swedish band who sounded a lot like Diamond Head...even down to the vocalist's phrasing. That nand was Europe, the album was Wings of Tomorrow. Within 2 years, Europe were expliding uo the charts all over the world, and Diamond Head was a reference point to Metallica and those of us in the know. It is a brutal industry, and definitely not fair. Glad you are philosophical about it all.

Yes, I seem to remember seeing Silverwing support Diamond Head at Lincoln Drill Hall. Other acts I saw there included Vardis, Angelwitch, Budgie, Praying Mantis, Samson (with Bruce), Gaskin, Tank and Girl. DH played the venue twice in 1981. Such great memories….especially for a 17 year old. Thank guys!

Thank you for making the music you have over these years. Finding Diamond Head as a 12 year old in 2010 (got to love the internet) was what made me such a fan of 80s British metal and I still find new bands from that era all the time. Glad to see you are happy and well!

You're too kind Mike. I listened to that acoustic performance again recently and quite enjoyed it myself. Going to throw my 2 shillings in here, Call Me is my favourite DH song. That song has everything. Dark and light, heavy and poppy, catchy as fuck. Riffs, vocals, bass and solid drumming. I'm 38, I was sitting on a bus to Glasgow 6 months ago, back seat listening to DH. In between songs I overheard what the teenager next to me was listening to...... Fucking Diamond Head as well. Whats the chances. We blethered for 10 mins about music before the journey ended. Mental how music lives on through generations.

Alright Sean? You probably don't remember me, but we met at the JB's gig in Dudley back in 2002 (hard to believe that was over 20 years ago now) and you very graciously sat with me for about an hour before the show, chatting about all sorts, (Music mainly) and the time Lars followed you guys around and stayed at your Nans place, before forming Metallica. You also introduced me to your nephew Chris backstage with a view to us forming a band together, If i remember right he was a big stereophonics fan, he called my phone that night, but unfortunately I didn't have my phone with me, it was at home switched off, so it consequently didn't log the missed call, what a plonker! . So that was that. Then shortly after that the 2nd bombshell, was discovering your departure from DH. to me it was devastating as i always loved your vocal approach and style, I always sing along to helpless the breakdown near the end (Original version) was so relatible lyrically to me. I almost could have written it. I still listen to DH but it's just not the same magic anymore since you left. I never had the lucky breaks in the industry myself that i wanted, and believe me i was always ready for it, it did come very close, after the band i was in got signed, (long story) my biggest let down was non committed lazy musicians, who lacked the same dedication and passion as i had, at my age now, I know my life long dream of touring the world was exactly that just a dream! it was hard to accept but over time i got over it, i'm under no illusions. But i continued to write and play as it's all ive ever known, and quite often thought about you and wondered what you were up too, so this was a cool video to find, & on some occasions even mused over suggesting forming some sort of band together,if you needed a guitarist, Anyway mate I just wanted to wish you and yours all the very best, and reach out to you, i will always be available should you want another musician who's got your back! are you even still in the midlands? you can hear some of my work on my channel to see what i've been up to. Keep doin your thing bro & God bless!
