People give a fuck because smoking and being around smokers has a clear, measured adverse effect on peoples health. I don't give a shit what you do in your own space but you have no right in this day and age to encroach on other peoples health. Those public smoking laws are there for a reason. For general public health. Not to punish smokers. Pretty fucking fair if you ask me. If you don't like it, grow the fuck up.

"The girl I fell in love with was going into a movie theatre in the dark with strangers and seeing something that might last forever" Goddamn that hit me right between the eyes...so well put. Netflix has ruined the movie business in a lot of ways...there's a limitless supply of content and a lot of it is mediocre or crap...it's a dumping ground for two-bit garage directors who fail to get theatrical release nevermind one of the studios to produce what to them obviously just reeks of unmarketable, unoriginal amateurism
@macstrong1284

This screams pretentiousness. There has always been trite filmmaking (Something Penn isn’t absolved of). If anything, the streaming revolution has democratized filmmaking. Or would you rather go back to the three-studio system where it’s strictly who you know that gets your film made?
@rampageclover9788

Colbert and Sarah Paulson smoked together for part of her interview, sometime last year. If you want to see some epic Interview Smoking, look for Mike Wallace's interview with Rod Serling, from just before the first Twilight Zone aired. 22 minutes of them both smoking continuously. There must have been an intern popping in with fresh ones while the camera is on the other guy.

This segment is hilarious. Some people say that Sean Penn was wasted during this shooting, and he quite possibly was. What is so funny and also very sad, is that even accepting the fact that he WAS wasted during this interview, he still made more sense than the President has during his interviews, simply because Penn has a strong grasp of what he feels and thinks, and knows what the hell he is talking about. Love you, Sean!

Dear Sean, u made me come out to myself when i first saw u in milk. u taught me how to feel for others,to fight for others and for something that benefits others; u taught me all that as Harvey Milk. Now u inspire me as Sean Penn. For 11 years i've been in one way or another been influenced by u, hope to meet u onr day sir.

really asshole, that's all you have? I'm 12? I'm 59. I watched the beatles on fucking Ed Sullivan, a life-long fan. Penn is a socialist communist hack, and a steroid freak. his last good work was Carlito's way. Remember that? Probably not, since you're obviously the 12 year old, fucktard.

Sean Penn, who already had my utmost respect, just gained more for sparking a cig live-interview. Bringing back smoking is the second step in reviving late night, after we ban Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, and their hokey bullshit.

You can smoke on a TV show in USA ? Honest question from an European guy.
@gobosMommy
@gobosMommy 6 жыл бұрын
yes you can, advertising cigarettes is banned, and most prime time tv shows shy away from it, however bad guys/dis-likable characters smoke from time to time, cartoon characters smoke a lot more i think, but Seinfeld and Friends had people that smoked occasional if you think about it

Thanks for answering, it's forbiden to smoke or drink alcool on TV shows here. Tobacco adds are also forbiden everywhere (as not just on TV shows)

Well as you may know Europe is a big mess and each country has it's own set of rules and Great Britain is one of the most specials country in it, so yeah maybe, I don't know about them but in France and Belgium I'm certain this is not allowed.
@gobosMommy

i'm pretty sure we still can have cigarette ads in magazines (but it's been forever since i actually subscribed to any), i remember seeing them all the time "back in the day" (i'm only 35 lol). i'm pretty sure everything i've watched recently had drinking in it so we might be out of luck if they ever decide to ban drinking in tv shows!
