Marvel x Adidas Ultra 4D "Spider-Man 2": Review & On-Feet

Playstation Canada hooked me up with a pair of the recently released Adidas 4D in collaboration with Marvel, to celebrate the launch of the new Spider-Man 2 video game by Insomniac Studios and Sony. Featuring a red Primeknit upper, blue overlays and white stripes (as a nod to Spider-Man's advanced suit), the 4D midsole represents the Venom symbiote taking over Peter's costume. I love the execution of these sneakers. The 4D was the perfect silhouette to use for this. Sometimes Adidas just hits it out of the park with the collabs. But I agree, it's not something I would rock normally. Also, I'm personally not a fan of the 4D shoe. I have an early pair, so my thoughts are biased and dated as the 4D shape did change over time and the uppers on the early pairs had no give, but I found them to be uncomfortable.

They dropped the ball big time on these not making pairs small enough for little kids. My youngest wouldve loved these.

I work as a game dev and I'm going to attempt to work with comms team on some sort of sneaker collab for one of our upcoming games, it would be such a dream come true! Wish me luck, maybe in a year or so it'll happen, but we'll see (doubt it, but shooting my shot). With that being said, these execute on the concept well, but are really not very... wearable lol. Definitely a shelf piece like you said. Super great game though, Insomniac are such talented folks!

Such a well thought-out design, and Amazing (😉) story-telling. Adidas continues to punch out fun and interesting collabs for true fans out there. This will hurt the wallet, but definite COP!

BGM has a solid vibe. If this was an Ultraboost 1.0 that would be better design IMO. Congrats on the cop via PlayStation as it’s a nice pair.

Great video as always man. I have a question, how would you compare the comfort of Ultraboost (yeah boost not 4D) to recent popular models like Asics Gel-1130 and New Balance 1906R? I'm so used to the feeling of UB and just wondering if it's worth giving these retro runners a try. I really dig their looks btw!

UB is crazy comfy in a softer way but i need more support for my arches so i prefer firmer shoes. So Asics have way more support and feel more firm which i prefer.

Tbh should've made it on a retro like a Forum or Rival or Superstar, something with history. But these kind of reflect the techiness of PS5 Spidey so I see that design angle too. For niw the AJ1s are still firmly the OG Spidey shoes

Glad you didn't pay for this one. The 4D is very weird on feet...That said, they did a good job on making the midsole like Venom and over taking Spiderman
