All the special circumstances aside (the age-gap and incest), there was a disturbing contrast between the experiences for Rhaenyra and Alicent. One was sexually liberated, the other was sexually oppressed. Still, I agree that both were being abused, only one was aware of it and the other was captivated by it.

To be fair, and idk about the books, but she doesn’t want to seem to want do the same duties a King would have. Or really care about the responsibility that her father keeps reminding her of. She doesn’t want a political marriage, or an heir. Something even the King is doing. But I have to say, I find it kinda funny how in this episode, even though she keeps complaining about how hard life is for her, she has people that remind her that their are worse positions she could be in. Especially as a woman.

the sex scenes were done very well and showed the pleasure of a woman well, they switched back and forth between the constrast of Rhaenyra's night compared to Alicent's, who was lonely tending to babies and basically imprisoned in a castle, who has to please the King whenever he wants. Meanwhile, Daemon shows and tells Rhaenyra how sex is meant to be pleausrable for the woman just as the man, something Alicent has not got to experience and may never not experience as she does not actually love the King. That's why Alicent was a bit angry at learning about the gossip of Rhaenyra's night, she's envious of the freedom Rhaenyra gets to experience.

This episode didn’t have a lot of crab killing action but it is easily one of the strongest yet. The actors for Otto, Viserys, and Alicent were incredible. It was so cool seeing the night life of King’s Landing too. Who know Flea Bottom could be lit.

The majority of the populace isn't on board with having Rhaenyra as a ruler, she needs someone who is not only an experienced, skilled warrior and tactician, Daemon also has the much needed credibility and presence she needed to rule. At the same time, also establishes Daemon's power. They both help each other as stated by @Isabella, a female wouldn't exist without a male and vice versa.

Easiest way to spot the total lack of emotional intelligence in 75% of the viewers is noticing the shit eating grin they have during that mirrored sex scene, not realizing that scene is not about daemon and rhaenyra it's about rhaenyra and alicent. People will have noticed it of course but I watched it again to focus on Dameon the whole time it’s just amazing how from the moment his dragon appears knocking into the ship he’s playing games and manipulating. Love this show already I was hesitant after season 8 but it feels like classic thrones is back

Daemon Targaryen is the most dangerous man in westeros he did all of that to let people gossip for two reasons: he knew Otto will tell this to Viserys and Viserys will not believe and blame Otto or he will marry rhaenyra and in this way or another this plan will make him close to the throne

For anyone disappointed by the series for any reason, just remember that season 1 of GoT mostly used dialogue straight from the book while HoTD is mostly 3rd person accounts of the story

Best thing about the early seasons is they didn’t show the battle scenes but the just aftermath… like a Shakespearean play, where battles take place off stage.
