If Born Again ever gets the super deluxe treatment I hope we get, along with the remix, an official release of the entire Worcester '83 show, it was a radio broadcast of great sound quality. That live version of the eponymous song is insane!

As a lifelong Sabbath fan who has *passionately* loved this album since first buying it upon release in December '82 (here in the U.S.), this 4-CD box set is a dream come true for me! The remix is *thunderous* , and it definitely brings a new view of the album, but to me, the remaster of the original mix here also brings a new clarity and sounds *much* better than the original album! The hardcover book is great too.

Mine arrived today and the Remix is outstanding. Born Again MUST BE NEXT!

Just listened for a couple of moments to the remix version and the original version, it really is night and day. I'll look forward to Born again.

Didn't expect we would be getting a Deluxe Edition version of 'Live Evil'. Last year I thought we would've gotten a 'Dehumanizer' Deluxe Edition like they did with 'H&H" and 'Mob Rules' as 2022 marked the 30th Anniversary.

I just reviewed my Live Evil box set today Sat. June 17, and it is Awesome! One of the Best remasters I have ever heard and the remix is Incredible! The Black Sabbath Mob Rules Tour stop in San Diego April 9, 1982, was my first Metal show I went to. So this album is very meaningful to me! I Love this album and this box set is a must have if you love Sabbath and Dio era Sabbath! Just get it you will not be disappointed🤘😎🤘

Wearing gloves while you handle a box set is next level shit.

Super video as always !!! Instruments and vocals are clearly audible for the first time in their independence. Just listen to Vinnie Appice's drums solo. Geoff Nichols keyboards also set acoustic accents that could only be guessed at on the original. Geezer Butler's bass and Tony Iommi's guitar are crystal clear and are in no way treated badly. And above all, Ronnie James Dio's singing is enthroned.

I never heard the awesome thunder sound just before Tonys solo on Voodoo .That floored me !!!

Fan of Ozzy and Dio. In my opinion Ronnie is WAAAY too melodramatic on the Ozzy songs. Kinda lame, I know that is strong word, but kind of lame in the way that, during Ozzy era, they would play standard tuning songs like War Pigs or Paranoid in C sharp. I know there are guys out there that agree with me. By MOR/V4 they were tuning down, but come on I know by then they weren't millionaires but at least have another rig set up for standard tuning songs. Other than that great box set.

I'm sold. Live Evil is also my favorite live album of all time. I still listen to the original.

Hey Chris, I get that it annoys you that the Discs slip out so easy. But I actually prefer that to what they did on that Judas Priest Box for the Double Albums. The Discs sit really fucking tight and the opening shows inwards. It's a bitch getting the Discs out of those. Especially if you don't wanna hurt the Cardsleeves. For the life of me I can't understand why they made so that the opening faces inwards of the sleeve. As annoying is it is that the CDs practically fall out of the Sleeve, I'd rather have this than a case in which it's basically a matter of time before the Sleeve gets damaged.

I agree the remix sounds better than the remaster, and it's significant. So much so that I also won't bother with the remaster again. That means I really have bought a 2-CD remix disguised as a super deluxe. Another disappointing thing is they've screwed up some Canadian locations in the book's list of concert dates... and, yes, where's the missing video disc. No, I don't regret the purchase but the value certainly does not match the 4 previous deluxe sets.

I agree, my biggest complaint is there is no video.

The talk in the Book about "Heaven and Hell" and "Mob Rules" made me even more sad, that they didn't do those Boxes for these Albums. I've got the 2010ish versions with that Bonus-Stuff. Instead of doing Super Deluxes and put in all of the associated recordings they've done another 2-Disc-Sets with different Bonus-Stuff a year ago or so.

It’s crazy to me that Pete never got the Dio box of joy diver cause those remixes are amazing and the live performances are unbelievable. Makes me want to get live evil but the price tag is crazy expensive for me only wanting the remixes. Someone said they got a 2 cd version that has the remix but I haven’t found it for sale anywhere if it exists

Gorgeous cover - easily my favorite from Sabbath, and I am so glad they fixed that horrible "Special Thanks" for Vinny Appice and misnaming Ronnie Dio. Could have been worse - they could have credited Ronnie with his real name if they really wanted to piss him off LOL. I remember an ancient interview (in Hit Parader, or one of those rags) where Ronnie was ranting about Geoff Nichols getting higher billing than poor Vinny. "My dog can play better keyboards than Geoff" or some such outrage from Ronnie LOL

For me Live Hammersmith from Mob Rules Deluxe will always be the best live album from Sabbath.

well they could have done the same thing that Ozzy did with the anniversary box set of diary and blizzard that was released awhile back. I know that in that package you got both vinyl and CDs but they could have made the packaging the same with both. Also i wish as a tribute to RJD they could have included the video that was supposed to be released in 1982.

this was my first "new" black sabbath purchase back in '83 and the production did always bother me. i listened to it a bunch, but I listened to "Speak of the Devil" wayyyy more. this new "Live Evil" mix sounds incredible. it does suck there's no new material, but like alo said, if you love the band, you should probably get this (full disclosure: i haven't heard any of the other remasters, so I have no idea how it compares).

I knew Chris would be there for this one! I hope they give Born Again, Masters of Reality, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Never Say Die the deluxe edition treatment sooner than later! I think the remix is light years better than the original mix. I've always preferred Speak of the Devil over Live Evil but, had this remix have been released back then, I may not have had such an easy time coming to that conclusion. I listened to my original Live Evil cassette twice and I gave it away in favor of my Ozzy Speak of the Devil vinyl. It wasn't even close! TYhis new mix is fantastic. Vinnie and Geezer sound amazing! Way more powerful than the original. Ronnie doesn't sound as goofy on the Ozzy songs either. I'm not sure if they used different takes or added something to the mix to make it better but, it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.

Even the Spotify versions sound amazing. I've never really enjoyed the album due to the muddiness but this is now amazing. Pity the price locally is $152 plus postage for the cd box, and $250 plus postage for the vinyl.

Let me first say my favorite Era of Sabbath was with Ronnie. That said I find it quite interesting how Ronnie could belt out Ozzy Era Sabbath....which I think sounds much better with Ronnie, but Sir Ozzwald couldn't bring himself to sing any Ronnie stuff....I mean fans would love to hear heaven and hell....ozzy trying to sing it would be a joke.

While I liked Live Evil when it first came out, the mix was flawed. This remix is the bomb. Sounds great now! Chris needs better lighting though.

Time to get a remix of Born Again..I'll probably be dead before that sees the light of day.

Hi Chris The Black Sabbath Dio Years book is it the deluxe version specially bound? Only asking because of the price. I preordered when it was available direct from Rufus ,the publisher ,release date was delayed, paid in instalments arrived on time, but didn't realise that i had already ordered a copy 😂and had paid in full was during pandemic lol. The weight of the damned thing would have cost a fortune to send back lol. Ah well 2 is better than one lol Cost here in UK £100 each. Take care Jonathan

I have always HATED the bad sound on the original "Live Evil" LP - thanks to too much interpersonel fightings and to much white powder in the controlroom - so when the first remaster came I bought it right away - but man was I disapointed! And then several times a new remaster came out - and of cause I bought in the hope a revalation - bot still NO. BUT NOW - I´m just so happy about the new mix, this is how it should have been in the first place 40 years ago :-) Its SOOOO Goood

The original version of live evil sounds terrible, I guess the only possible reason it's Chris's favourite all time live album is because it's from the mob rules tour, his favourite Sabbath studio album.

I disagree on the original production of Heaven and Hell. I think it was mixed in such a way to suit the playing style of Bill Ward. Mob Rules could be stretched out in the fashion that it was because of the Bonhamesque style of Vinny Appice.

Chris needs two more copies that need to be sealed to preserve the 2023 air

I've only heard the 2 disk version. CD1 is the remaster and I personally think it sounds horrible. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the remix, which to me makes the set worth it.

I'm glad they finally remix "Live Evil." The original mix was terrible. It has always sounded like a badly recorded bootleg. I wouldn't mind getting the super deluxe edition. Iommi should do the same treatment for "Born Again."

I have this but haven't listened to it yet. I have heard that the remix is an improvement but it's mastered like shit, close to distorting in some spots, at least on the CDs.

Sorry to say. The Remix by Wyn Davis is fine and nice, but was butchered by Chris Gehringer Mastering. Is was compressed and limited do death, NO dynamic range, just a thick/block of squashed sonic bomb to headache and ear fatigue. Such a shame. (Dynamic range compression (DRC) or simply compression is an audio signal processing operation that reduces the volume of loud sounds or amplifies quiet sounds, thus reducing or compressing an audio signal's dynamic range.) Listen to "Children of the Sea" as example. The track begins with Ronnie vocals VERY loud and when all the band enter, all sound small, reduced, chushed and constrict. No impact. No dynamic at all.

I want the set but it doesn’t make sense to get 2 of the same thing. I would have rather had a remix of the live album and one of the full unreleased live shows. Including a remaster makes no sense at all.

Video is Black & Blue. (Sabb & BOC)....saw at a midnight show back in the day. Heaven & Hell would sound incredible with a remix....album is great but not the sound.

So this is basically a remaster and a remix. No extra tracks.

Not sure of we needed a remaster of a bad mix, then a remix that adds in fake applause. The Portland 82 is much better IMHO.
