I like major hurricanes more than tornadoes. Tornadoes are fascinating but I prefer hurricanes.

@@markpalavosvrahotes5575 ya I mean they look really cool in movies and stuff and to see exactly what they are look wise and so fourth but just not in real life. It’s devastating! My mom lives in Florida I know that they have a few hurricanes and such. The only thing with hurricanes to me that’s even more frightening is the sheer fact that they can last like up to weeks long taking out everything in its path. Tornadoes don’t seem to last that long but then again it can take out everything in its path. Hurricanes you seem to have a little more prep to be able to try to relocate and such where this tornado and many others didn’t really give much, if any, warnings to allow people to even remotely try to evacuate!!

@@gabriellelyn538 One thing with hurricanes get away from the storm surge or the rise in seawater. Thats what you have to evacuate from. Hurricane winds blow horizontally which is not as dangerous as tornadic winds. I really wanted to see the eye of Hurricane Michael but I missed. Maybe I will get another chance with a similar storm. The reason this is happening so often now and will only get worse is climate change. We have been yelling at the top of our lungs that these type of storms were coming. They came and now the only thing we can do is try to mitigate the the horrifiying storms that will come and keep coming is to get serious about stopping climate change. Otherwise super storms will get worse and worse.

Remember the devastating forest 🔥's of late summer all the way through until October of this year out West ? Of course, unforgettable. The lethal lightning strikes near S.F, CA ? Then lethal lightning storms decimating Forests in Siberia days later ? Something bigger is at play here. I've never seen anything like these Monster storms. @@WINCHANDLE The answer is to stop climate change. The reason these storms are stronger and more destructive is the change in the climate. This will only get worse if nothing is done. And pretty much nothing is happening that would stop these storms yet. Folks are unwilling to pay for trying save the planet but are upset when the super storms start taking out entire towns. Super storms are happening everywhere. But we sit and do nothing that will change the destruction.

Yeah, basements are typically protected from tornados (unless you have floors caving in or lots of windows). I know the upper Midwest has a lot of basements, and I’m surprised they aren’t common in the south. It isn’t really a case of building something “stronger” though. If a tornado wants to destroy something, it will. However, tornados typically aren’t this strong and devastating. They normally last for less than 10 minutes and don’t hit big cities. (A lot of the Midwest is farmland or small towns, so it’s more likely to hit there.) A majority of people in the Midwest haven’t gone through a tornado, and if they have, it was a small one. So yeah get tornado insurance but otherwise it’s not something to really worry about.

Climate change's effect is just starting. This is a tiny taste of what climate change has in store for us. Those that denied it coming are living with the destruction. It is horrific but this is just a taste of what we are in for.
