Hey guys, join me for an adventure as I get out into nature searching for a pocket of joy. Can I find a wild swimming spot and some peace and quiet in Surrey? This is a beautiful corner of the country but it’s definitely crowded and you need to work a bit harder to find solitude and places to swim, but with a little effort reward is easily found. It’s not always easy to make ourselves get outside, but I truly believe you don’t have to go far to find an adventure, and being out in nature has such a restorative effect on my mood. Since I added swimming to my walks I’ve been able to immerse myself even more in my surroundings, I would recommend it to anybody wanting to start. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for coming along for the ride!

A little about us: I adopted my ex-racing greyhound Miss Nancy three years ago, it was a massive learning curve for both of us and we have become the best of friends, who love going on outdoor adventures, wild swims, van camping and finding vegan food out and about! You always pick the loveliest of spots and the seaside ones are maybe the most wonderful ones, possibly because the coast and the sea are ever changing especially in different weather and lighting conditions. Using the Grayl when you're going to be boiling the water too is a great first step to build confidence in the system. Love that tea too - I tried it a while ago but then forgot so it was awesome to see it again.

I was born in Carshalton Surrey but I never explored before I moved away; wild orchids, lizards, it looks a belter of a spot. Once the filter came out I knew what is was and ended up screaming at the phone “use it!”since you didn’t have much water! At least you clocked it too though haha You’ve definitely helped me get out as I’m having my own wee adventure this summer. The sketch of Nancy Drew at the end made me tear up! Beautiful video as always, I watch them on the shingle in Stromness and it’s always so heartwarming 🥹x

Hello Tori. I'll try to keep it short, I talk way too much😁 Okay, that was so nice and good to watch. You captured many things. Never heard of that tea👍 You did really well in the water. It not easy going in but you feel so much better all day. I'll wrap up now😂 You are very real, no crap with you. You go out, film things, I've got under water camera, let see how it works etc.. I watch a lot of KZfaq too much. You are real and fun, never change your style. So many watched and enjoyed this already. You do live quite a nice idyllic life. I find myself feeling a little bit of envy. But alas the summer is truly beginning to play ball. Camping out in our converted horse trailer next week. I don't know how I came across this channel. I have been trying to recognise what is different and so drawing about your videos. You are genuine and transparent but so are many others, the scenery is always really interesting but many others have amazing scenery...I think it is that you just don't over project, you don't have an agenda and that makes you remarkably "safe" to watch emotionally I think. I just came back from my own walk along the coast and bay in Australia and nearly expect to see you walking around the corner. You epitomise all the good things about England at so many levels, all the good things about humanity really...thank you Tori!

Hi :-) I came across your video completely by accident (well, maybe KZfaq knows more than me). I love it. Your eye for beauty is impressive: you produce the sort of images I always imagine I will manage to produce but somehow never do; of course I always blame my camera, but I don't really think it is that. Loved the lizards; I used to spend ages watching them in France, but have never been lucky enough to see them in the UK. the drawings at the end were so nice .. thank you for sharing them with us. i admire your artistic ability. healing is a process, tori, and no two people heal the same way. your heart was damaged and some of those nerves are still raw, certainly. don't let anyone or anything rush the process. for what it's worth, i think your feet are on the right path and you're making your way as well as you can. for me, it starts out as tears. then i find myself laughing about some of the absurdities i remember. there are gradually more laughs and less tears, then one day i realize that it's predominantly smiles and laughs when the memories come trotting out. eventually the memories are (almost) always met with feelings of fond nostalgia. almost. thank you for the video. you inspired me to take a walk through my neighborhood on my lunch break today.

You’re right, and the funny happy memories are so great I love to think about her, but just as quick it can be incredibly painful and sad. Day by day. The wind playing with the sketchbook at the end felt very poignant. A glimpse of a mystery even. One that involves a lost loved one becoming part of something great and unknowable yet somehow remaining near. It's all a riddle isn't it? I don't know that we can solve the riddle but nature provides the best places to sit while thinking things over. Another lovely video. Cheers, I enjoy them all.

Lovely to see, Tori - Hampshire's my adopted home 😊 I wasn't far away but I never went to that common, as they had the major fire there ~20 years ago. I remember seeing the huge plume of smoke from miles away - it continued for days.

Really! It’s a great county. Yeah it’s crazy they have fires there all the time (maybe not as bad as the one you are talking about) but definitely in past few years.

Love your chilled out videos. Hampshire is my home county and has some beautiful places as does Surrey. When you are back in Cornwall I have a quiet and private spot to wild swim I could show you. Btw love your sketches of Miss Nancy. Andy UK

Honestly, the pleasure is ours,it is just so nice to see you being proactive and enjoying life again. The easiest thing would have been to hide away from the world and Nancy definitely wouldn’t have wanted that for you. My adventure days are sadly mostly behind me now after surviving a major stroke but at least I lived to tell the tale and I can at least enjoy the happy experiences through others. Keep smiling and enjoying what makes you happy and alive. ❤😊❤

I loved this Tori. So many nice places on our doorstep in the South East. You certainly are an inspiration to get out and see nature! Just back from Cornwall where we explored a few towns and beaches. Ribble had a great time, his first time on a beach. We had Vault beach to ourselves! P.S. your sketches really capture the essence of a greyhound; i must confess, they brought a tear to my eye.

So glad! It’s true there are, we may not have the ruggedness of Cornwall but it is very beautiful and varied in the South East. That is amazing Ribble first time on the beach! Did he get very overexcited?! MIss Nancy went for her first time to West Wittering, got the wind up her and took off I nearly had a heart attack 🤣 I don’t know Vault beach but it’s all about getting it to yourself that’s for sure, I always felt I had to be very careful when other people were there as they sometimes look a little alarmed and the speeding greyhound bullets. Thank you, I’m going to start doing more again. Send me a photo of Ribble if you want a portrait as I am practicing!

We also visited Mevagissey feast week, but it was a bit crowded for dogs. And I got a pasty from St. Buryan farm shop!

I think that going outside and connecting with nature will help you heal. Have you tried cloud watching? It is a great way relax and find yourself...please give it a try lie down on the grass and look up,there is a lot to see. You are a very special woman,stay strong, and keep growing All the very best from me in sleepy Suffolk!!

Who would have thought Surrey could be so beautiful! Well I suppose if I have actually ventured there myself I would have discovered this. This is on my bucket list now. The boardwalk did remind me of Goss Moor here in Cornwall as they have a butterfly trail which is also on a wooden pathway. But not nearly as big. When the little lizard scurried away, was that wood creaking or was that sound from the camera? Love the pictures of the white foxglove, very pretty. The dragonfly sculpture had a number on it, does that suggest there are more art installations there? You're very good at making do in any situation even if you don't have what you need to make your life easier. Most people would have been cussing about the leaking milk in their rucksack. Although non-dairy milks are excellent here because they don't smell nearly as bad when they go off. Is very cool that you got in the water. I was surprised when you said it was warmer than the ocean but thinking about it given the fact that the water is captive and shallow it makes perfect sense. Maybe that's where I should head to find small pockets of water. That said it still showed on your face how bloody cold it was 🤣 which means I would have probably been proper screaming. 😅 Looking forward to seeing what you get up to with this waterproof camera. I thought it was interesting despite the murky water as at least it gives you a sense of what all the little critters have to deal with in their underwater world.

It is, although I will say that it is also horrendously busy in nice weather/holidays anything like that, honestly Cornwall has nothing on Surrey for an excess of people in peak times, the difference being at least in Cornwall they go away again at the end of the holidays 😅. Yes I think there were more, I was on the ‘dragonfly trail’ it’s actually a really big area. Ah well I think milk spilling in my rucksack sums up my life pretty well so I try not to get too cross 🤭 and yeah it doesn’t smell to bad so it’s not such a drama as if it were cows milk! Well yes it was still pretty cold, I think I got used to t quicker though adn wasn’t actually cold when I got out so I could dry off in the sun, but of course it’s also June now and I did most of my swimming in Cornwall in December and January so maybe that had something to do with it! Yeah it was a good little test, now I need to find something people with actually want to see. There are amazing clear chalk streams in Hampshire, so beautiful, so I might try there!

@@missnancysdayoff 🤣 yes it's nice when the tourist season is over with. As you can imagine Newquay at the moment is bewilderingly busy. It just hits you as you go around the corner onto any main street, masses of people. All the little cafes you usually go to are just full up. Surrey definitely sounds like an off-peak season place to visit. I think the chalk streams would be a wonderful idea and would give you nice clean water to try your camera out. Wondering if you have any nice reservoirs in the area? I remember in Somerset a reservoir that was really beautiful. There were forested areas, followed by large open plains, just really nice to walk around. Maybe you could try that?

@Melatiah it’s tough isn’t it, most people want to have holidays but no one wants to see a tourist it’s a bit of a conundrum 😂 Bewilderingly busy sounds like a nightmare really! I know everyone likes summer but I think winter has a lot going for it! I’m not sure, sadly most stuff here is private, Cornwall definitely has better access to watery goodness 💙
