This is exactly the type of KZfaq video format I have been looking for. I subscribe to several channels, and I am certainly a birder. But while birding, I am constantly looking at plants, insects, fungi, geology, etc. I agree with you; more people should get outdoors and soak in all aspects of nature rather than solely focusing on one thing. I also record my sightings regularly on iNaturalist.

I love this informative laid back format. I’m a late in life nature student since I grew up with many allergies, but I love seeing the different flora and fauna in varying habitats, and iNaturalist is a great suggestion. The lens on your new iPhone is nice and crisp. I feel like I walked with you, but without the sweat and the mosquitos!

I’d be interested in a series of videos on this area, I have not been to Pennsylvania. We need more nature educators on KZfaq, you are providing valuable info so keep it up. I was really hoping for a timber rattlesnake snake David, c’mon brother I checked Inat and they appear locally abundant there, go find us one, now that would ramp up your game and maybe stymie your apparent reluctance of seeing a “snake”. Getting a little lost is fun, you can never really get lost when you can hear traffic noise. We will be waiting for a rattler Mr. Brown and accept nothing less 😅GET TO IT

I've never actually come across a timber rattlesnake. You are correct that they are in this area. I know people sometimes see them laying out on the Pine Creek Rail Trail in the western part of the county. Actually in my hikes I seem to come across very few snakes.

Yeah I heard about some of the measures used to control the moth, they're insane.

Good stuff. There’s another plane crash sight on the mountain South West of Maynard St. My grandfather was one of the first on the scene in the 80s. Unfortunately I have no idea the name exact location and my Pop passed away several years ago. But I do recall as a child riding a snow mobile to the location. It’s been over 40 years so I’m not even sure if there’s anything of note but I know it is somewhere between Maynard and Brown street on the mountain.

It'll always blow my mind that there are six native felines in the US and always make me sad about the Florida panther.
