we're bringing on the big guns--political science professor Matt McManus and Varn Vlog host C. Derrick Varn--to help Ben Burgis watch Tucker Carlson's interview with Russian fascist intellectual Aleksandr Dugin. This interview is basically GTAA catnip. Before that, we'll be introducing new GTAA intern Aidan, talking about the protests at UCLA, and doing wellness checks on Dennis Prager and Tim Pool. Last but definitely not least, Jason Myles will be hanging out in the postgame for patrons.

Censored again as "policy violations" at the end, so it seems to be Duggin's talking that activates it.

McManus from around 59:00, (classical) fascism may not have been motivated by capitalism in its origins and movement phase (certainly they believed in the sanctity of property owned by their version of "the people") but the capitalists and capitalist political parties who CHOSE fascism (call them philofascists) and who were essential in putting it in power certainly understood it as a necessity for rescuing capitalism in crisis from downfall and the commies.

TUESDAY 28 MAY, SUDDENLY AT 2:42PM, @1:20:29 (in middle of Carlson/Dugin video) - screen goes black and announcement: "STREAM UNAVAILABLE - Stream suspended for policy violations" !!! Is it because of the excerpted video (copyright), or because of Duggin, or because of something someone said??? Presumably copyright, or else something Carlson or Dugin said right then, because it resumes at 1:23:30.

@@VarnVlog I was under the impression there was much more Plato in Aquinas than there is. Having looked into it in light of your comment, my understanding is amended. Thanks.

I felt this discussion did not dig deep enough. A more rigorous response to Dugin might draw on Zizek's notion of ideology in terms of a fantasy as non-contradictory undivided Whole where everything has its place; no such undivided Whole actually exists or has ever existed, including at the level of nation or civilization. It might also be worth critiquing the second half of Heidegger's Being and Time and especially 'historicality'. Just because Dugin is inconsistent doesn't mean that there aren't serious ideas on the right that actually need to be more rigorously critiqued if you want to offer an alternative.

Rigorous doesn't mean agrees with your own ideological preoccupations. The most useless form of criticism is "Why don't you do what I would do"--why don't you just do it yourself.

@@VarnVlog You did a line by line reading of Heidegger? You take the easy way out by not critiquing the intellectual sources or arguing against the STRONGEST versions of arguments, not just the argument as stated in the text which may include rhetorical tricks, fallacies, and inconsistencies. You have the intellectual capacity to do genuine theoretical work, which not many people have, but you don't do it.

@@VarnVlog You could critique from a different angle than the one I suggested, but the problem is I didn't see a SINGLE serious theoretical argument made in this video, it's all "this is typical right wing thought, they aren't consistent and rational like we are." That's not argument, that's just virtue signaling to people who already agree with your position, and it doesn't even live up to the standard of "rationality" that is supposedly agreed upon by the participants. I'm not even opposed to analytical style "rational" arguments if done well, an exemplary text along these lines is Jean-Pierre Dupuy's "The War That Must Not Occur" where he rigorously analyzes the logic of nukes and Mutually Assured Destruction. Interestingly, since Dupuy doesn't use dialectics and sticks with analytic logic, we find that from the strictly logical point of view MAD amounts to a series of paradoxes.
