Hi everyone, just want to say thanks to all of you who have followed the series and have personally reached out to me showing encouragement throughout these 5 weeks. Also, seeing everyone happy to be learning as well from our series has been really great to see. We do want to keep this going but of course that's a process in itself. No promises but will give the best effort for the series to continue. Thanks so much Coach B for being a wonderful teacher. And thank you Predator Philippines for making this series possible. :)

nice job man, can see that conceptually ur alr playing way better than the 3k bracket in sea server, spps in that bracket dont ward or pull for some god forsaken reason and core players just wanna afk farm in their own dead lane for 20 min straight

Damn I wish I could afford BSJ coaching. Oh wait he posts all his sessions on KZfaq and there's no excuse to not implement his lessons in game. But wait that would mean I'm the only reason in not climbing...unacceptable! I carry in game sure, but here's BSJ carrying the entire community to new potentials. The true G of the dota scene.

Eri needs to know majority of heroes. He doesn't know how his enemies and team mates do. When I'm starting to learn dota I started by Knowing every spell of all heroes. That will make him realize threats and opportunities.
@shanudocter
@shanudocter 4 жыл бұрын
Wow, he is still stuck at guardian. I think his overall dota knowledge about hero's is holding him back. He should do the all hero challenge.
@hex-2748

@@shanudocter maybe if he has time to do it. But just by simply reading the heroes' abilities will give him at least an idea how those heroes works. Or he can try them all in demo mode.

This was my favorite coaching session, and definitely the most informative. I think for me it comes down to Eri playing a game with you coaching it, and then while the emotions of a game are fresh for both of you discussing it with a replay. Maybe it's because I got invested watching the whole match, either way the coaching sessions that are done over replay only don't do it for me the way this video did. I love seeing how little tweaks to positioning and movement really concluded the game decisively and the discussion really helped to cement that for me, something I hadn't picked up on while watching the game play out.

This has been a highly entertaining game. Dota has so much going on being new is perplexing. Not knowing what all the characters do, just being lost in the swiftness of the fight. It's comical watching years later and literally reminiscing. BSJ is so chill and so funny.

Plus Eri and Coach B are great personalities that really gel together. The only downside is 11pm / 11am time, works out at 4am in the UK which I just couldn't make work - but not much you can do about that :)

even with considering only a simple 2v2 lane with a 115 heroes in the game there are 165 million different possible permutations of heroes/positions. Considering all possible permutations in a 5v5 game of dota gives you 2.7e+20 possibilities (heroes and positions). Through the entire history of dota 2 there have been roughly 5e+9 (5 billion) games of dota 2 played in total. Which is about 5.4e+10 (5 trillion) times less than the total amount of possibilities. Just to give you an idea of how crazy complex dota really is.

I think Eri had exam day stress or something. He was listening to BSJ and repeating what he said, but not acting on it e.g. Tp's mid and BSJ say you could kill Timber, Eri agrees and even says to his team kill Timber... 5 seconds later, where is Timber? Really good series! keep up to good work both of you :)

Watching replays is honestly useless for Eri. He knows in his head what he has to do. He just needs to apply what he knows. That only comes from playing. Mechanics really only comes from actually playing instead of wasting your time watching replays.

I think one small thing that could go a long way towards helping make Eri better in general is learning all of the heroes and items. It's not really something you guys explicitly talked about in your coaching sessions, other than the general concept of "Well, play more, and you'll pick these up over time". Maybe there could be some value in targeted learning towards this? For example, Eri didn't even know what Nyx mana burn was! Perhaps a strategy could be to try to learn 1 hero and item a day. Go into hero demo, pick a new hero, and learn the basics. What are the hero's base stats (damage, hp, mana, movement speed, etc.)? Read each spell. Use each spell. What do they do? How strong is each spell at level 1? How strong at max level? How strong does the hero look at level 1? How about max level? Take 15 minutes tops each day you play Dota to do this. And finally, when you're in a game with a hero that you didn't really get or felt very different than your expectations based on this simple experiment, revisit the lobby with this hero. What were you missing now that you saw the hero in a real game? Maybe their standard item build is not how you would have expected them to go, so try out those items and think about why they did that? I think this strategy could speed up the learning process early hump for new players like Eri. Thoughts/suggestions/improvements?

Yeah, I remember when I was starting out, I watched all the hero spotlights from DotaCinema to learn what type of hero each and everyone is, what their typical role is, and what their abilities do. Now granted, i don't know if they have updated their content since there have been massive changes since then, but something similar should exist for sure
@Vinayaka-Iyer
@Vinayaka-Iyer 4 жыл бұрын
I think experiencing it is much better. Like I read all the heroe's abilities when I started out and still had no clue what they do in actual game situations. Like when you see Axe you think he is a tanker who plays infront of his team but actually it turned out he waits in the back to blink in and initiate or counter initiate. The abilities aren't always indicative of the playstyle, like I always thought Enigma is shit hero since all he can do is jungle until he gets black hole but the true magnitude of a black hole can only be felt after seeing it in a pro match or experiencing yourself.

Crusader is 1540, he is 1120, moreover he hasn't played for years like most of the people stuck at guardian or crusader, you don't have too much expectations from your teammates, if you are still crusader after playing the game for a long time, the problem is you. Like BSJ said the only factor to you climbing mmr over time if yourself, if you aren't climbing means you aren't improving.
