So far the best rune setup that I have found was Overload, Lava Burst, Earth Shield. Then I take the 1 second reduction of Shock spells. I only ever cast Shocks and Lava Burst. The Earth Shield helps with pushback and the 5 second Shocks deliver insane burst. I have seen 500-700 damage bursts on average. Look for a target that is being focused and you will take between 25-50% of their health all at once.

many people are skimping the DW enhance spec right now. to deal the most damage at the moment you must DW with way of earth and rotate flame/frost shock with earth shock and lava lash. lava lash doesnt deal 40-80 damage like you say it scales off your offhand so get a slow top end weapon and your lava lash can deal 100-150 with large crits that rival lava burst (with less mana and cd). 1 point of flurry makes a small difference for your mainhand speed at this moment but for level 40 you will want a slow mainhand AND offhand because stormstrike and lava lash will scale off weapon damage, as well as flurry procs not being consumed by fast weapons which fury warriors have done for years. so in pve this is a tank spec, mana issues are mostly solved with a mana potion and short fights when the raid has good dps. in pvp you are more of a warrior than a rogue but with more hybrid utility, purge enters your pvp rotation to add to your instant casts against healers and overextenders and you can offheal, run flags in ghost wolf, and peel enemies with frost shock and earthbind. mana issues here are solved by having a second pair of leg armor, perhaps a BOE green "of attack power" runed with shamanistic rage which you can currently swap without GCD for quick and mobile recovery out of combat.

So I also played main Shaman in classic, though you are partially right in some respects with the mana problem- I successfully mained an ele shaman from MC all the way to Naxx. Was it easy- no, i had to work harder than every other caster but not only did i do this well enough to be in the MAIN raid group I was wanted and needed do to the group having more than enough mages/locks and healers and wanted to fill a spot that was not another melee either so Ele sham was the play- you could say i got lucky and i got into one of the top 3 guilds on the server this way- they reached out to me as i was in the top 3 Ele shaman on logs on the same server. Now damage wise- Ele was NOT sub par- at all... up until Naxx(the set bonuses for all other dps vs the weak bonus ele got made a substantial gap) i was right in the mix with the mages and beating most of the locks- now did they suck-ofc not... again top 3 clearing and clear time on the server guild... I just knew how to ele- you had to have 40 mana potions on you and 40 dark/demonic runes (didnt always use all of them, just a good number to have esp knowing you might wipe here and there) on you- and you would do the longer cd first- mana pot, right when you were low enough on mana to not top off past 100% then do the same with the dark/demonic rune (i had a weak aura tell me when for both of these) and rotate those throughout the fight and maintaining your mana % equal to the bosses hp%- the other thing that helped was knowing the mana to spell coefficient numbers, long story short- max rank Lightning bolt was used until you were burning mana too fast according to the boss hp then you down ranked to rank 4 Lightning bolt- this combined with the mana pot and dark/demonic rune cds you actually had enough mana to last even up to 5 min fights- granted most fights that lasted 2.5 mins or less you did exceptionally better on as you did not have to do as many down ranked (rank 4) lightning bolts to keep yourself from going oom. Again this was a pain in the butt to do but because i loved the ele shaman i figured this out from the theory crafters at the time and it worked and it worked well- I can only imagine how much further they will go once we hit 60 and see what other runes they come up with to asisst us- oh and seeing the other comments- fyi other than dragons (most of BWL i know...) Barron and rag- the fire resistance from the other bosses in mc/bwl is nearly negated by curse of elements- surprising noone thought to think of that lol... Let me know if anyone has any questions- but all in all a great video bro.

So at level 60 lava burst is most likely going to just be a pvp talent. This for 2 reasons, firstly molten core and BWL fire resistance. Secondly because lightning bolt scales so well with spell power due to having an SP coeffience as a 3 second cast... but only being a 2 second cast.... this will most like mean that ele will stack spell power and +nature damage and use water shield for additional mana regen insteaad of lava burst, this in combonation with dual weelding spellpower weapons will allow ele to keep up their mana pool in longer fights, whilst continuing to use max rank Lightningt bikt and chain lightning rotations. Ele scales harder than warriors. The only problem was our mana regen! Now we have overload to top it off. I see ele being one of if not the best caster dos.

Biggest lvl 25 hurdle for ele is the cast time redux being so far down the tree, that you can't reach it. And later on the scaling on shaman spells is worse than for example fireball for mages since the base cast time is shorter. Chainlightning has a big penalty for having the .5 sec faster cast time. They should really adress the spell scaling problem. Shadowpriest has the same problem.

Should we use double rockbiter with DW?

Wanna be top dps as a shaman? Double rockbiter slow boe weps off bfd trash till you get two bite of serakis. Dual weild specialization, way of earth, and lava lash. Use consumes and world buffs. Double rockbiter. Your a mt. But this will get you the dmg.

The description of elem is very basic, pvp and pve. To be honest, mana is not even the biggest problem at level 25 with mana pot being so cheap and shamanic rage, especially if you can affort 2 Shamans in your raid for a prebis situation. The core problem at level 25 are the base damage of lightning and FS, and rotation feels absolutely fked. 1_ lava burst than flame shock does not make your lava burst crit. 2_ flameshock last 12 sec and lava burst has 8 sec cd, so it's designed to have only 1 lava burst per flame shock and also you have 1 sec downtime doing nothing ending up to be a dps loss. 3_ and this fking lava totem getting focus, u can not even try to gain dps from it.
