Seattle is home to some of the biggest names in the industry, including Amazon and Microsoft. As these companies push to develop AI, more and more Taiwanese professionals are choosing to settle in Seattle.
Employees stroll among verdant trees and lush lawns. This is the Seattle headquarters of the global tech giant Microsoft. Its most unique feature is this.

As a global leader in software, Microsoft is making a strong push in artificial intelligence. Its market value stands above US$3 trillion, entrenching it as one of the world’s Top 3 most valuable companies. Its presence in Seattle has turned the city into a dream destination for IT professionals, who once favored Silicon Valley.

I feel that there are more startups in Silicon Valley, like for example Uber, and various other new enterprises. They cluster there, and their work culture is a little different. Here there are more outdoorsy people who like to spend time in nature.
Seattle has attracted many large tech companies including Amazon. The ecommerce firm’s campus features greenhouse-like spheres where employees can rest, and which have become a local landmark. And with Amazon also developing AI, more Taiwanese professionals are crossing the Pacific to work there.

With the rise of AI, many cities along the West Coast are attracting a lot of immigrants. This is especially noticeable in Seattle, where the number of Taiwanese residents is rising. There are user interface and user experience designers, data analysts… Most of them are software engineers.
Not only is Taiwanese talent moving to the U.S., Microsoft and Amazon have announced plans for data centers in Taiwan. Amid the AI craze, Taiwan-U.S. tech exchanges are only expected to grow.
