I bought one of these for my daughter who is going off to college. Lots of bike theft on campus and I think this will be an excellent lock for her. Thank you for your review.

I just bought an ebike for commuting. It has a built in alarm. I have a Seatylock. I think I will add a Foldylock to the mix. I'm sure the determined thief will get through anything, but I can at least make it a pain in the butt for them.

Great video...! Does the lock have any kind of coating on it so it won’t scratch??

The lock does have a coating on it. They say it's a plastic coating, in my hands it reminds me of the texture of line-x or bed liner, but I don't forsee it causing any scratches to my bikes

I’m awaiting the delivery of my e-bike and decided to use a three part defence. I have one of these on order plus a U lock and a cable. I’m hoping they will at least put off the opportunist thieves.

I use a seat lock AND a NYC Fuggetaboutit lock. I had my $6,000 bike stolen last year with a regular cable chain and I aint taking any chances!

these folding locks give you more options to lock to than a narrow U-Lock (so tree, wide post, etc.)

Great review. Man, you are passionate about all things bike-related. Q: Is it large enough for locking the front and rear tires together after removing the front one from the forks???

You should have no problem fitting it around everything with the front tire removed, it will for sure hold everything tight together.

Hi there, can you help me with a measurement please? Underneath my saddle I have a small space to mount the lock. On all the websites I can find measurements of the lock itself but I need the measurement of the lock holder. I see the compact itself is 6cm wide. How wide is the holder? The widest, on top, of the holder doesn’t need to get true. It’s complicated to explain in text🤪 Can you give me the measurement on how wide the holder is please?

So measuring mine the compact itself is 58mm wide, the bracket with the lock in it is 60mm wide

I believe they give the full extended length on their website, you could always take a tape measure out to that measurement and see if it'll work, I didn't have a problem with it being too short though.

Do the silicone buffers really hold that lock in place?

The silicone buffers? Do you mean the carrying case that mounts to your frame? It's actually a plastic, 3d printed type material, I've ridden it off-road some and haven't had any issues with it rattling or coming loose.

@@YourFavoriteCyclist On their video ad, they mention that if I want to put the case anywhere on the frame that is NOT on the bottle cage boss I can, by using the silicone buffers (That's what they call them) on the back of the case. But do they really hold it in place?

Ah I know what you're talking about now. I went out and took it off my bottle cage mount and put the silicone buffer pieces on and velcroed it to my frame. For a velcro mount it's a pretty good setup, didn't seem to move around all that much. If you were going to be jumping off curbs or riding single track with it, it may slowly move around, but for the average rider it should hold it plenty secure.

I would say it should work with a fat bike, I still have some slack in the lock with my bikes. It'll probably be a little tighter locked up but I would think it should work.

Um, if your gonna do a bike lock review, dont ya think it would help to see how easy, or hard it is to get the lock off using, bolt cutters, grinder, bla bla bla??

There's plenty of other people on KZfaq that take care of that aspect. I would much rather give products a long term review instead of attempting to destroy them immediately.

tell you what mate, i could invent the best bike lock in the world, catch the bike thieves bump them off till there are none left then you wouldnt need a bike lock. RIGHT SIMPLE.

This is totally not an objective review. A paid actor couldn’t have been more enthusiastic. Even the best products have cons, what are the Foldlock’s cons? Is it security-rated by an independent organization?
