Please make sure you find out what marine biologists *actually* do before pursuing that career path. It’s a lot less flashy than most people think. In my college, 40% of freshmen who go into the marine science program drop out or switch majors within the first semester when they realize it isn’t all dolphins and coral reef diving.

Lots of reputable animal experts have praised the zoos and aquariums for their help for animals. Such as Sir David Attenborough, who thinks highly of the role played by the zoos. The zoo quest have solved many scientific mysteries, and it is of considerable help in shaping the minds of people. Its appeal to children has improved the closeness of nature and people. The breeding programs have bred lots of endangered species, and it has saved lots of species from extinction. Do not demonize zoos which both helped animals and people. Destroying them will only bring more ignorance to the society, and it will be the greatest tragedy for nature. Just like the period of Prohibition in the USA. Only when alcohol were no longer accessible through legal means, did people find so many problems will arise. Don't let that happen on zoos! Because we will then regret for how many species we could have saved by zoos, and they were gone because of some ill advised activists.
@evelyntellex83646 жыл бұрын
young truth i agree! DON'T SHUT DOWN ZOOS AND AQUARIUMS!
@FeuerblutRM5 жыл бұрын
Seaworld, especially there orca zone, is no zoo. In a zoo animals don't have to perform for treats and food. Stop lying to yourself. If Seaworld would be a zoo for orcas all tanks would resemble natural habitat with rocks, fish, sea weeds, natural currents and human interaction would just be a necessity for feeding and health care but kept at a minimum. Oh and for the most important part: orcas would not be sold and shipped between parks, a zoo would always try to keep a pod together, because orcas are highly social and suffer from separation from family members.
@spacebug305 жыл бұрын
@@FeuerblutRM Due to orca's high cognitive ability, they need a lot of stimulation. All these training sessions and shows are neccassery to keep them mentally stimulated. Without them, with only the bare minimum contact, there won't be enough to do for the orca's, no matter how good the enclosure is. Also, SeaWorld hasn't transferred any orca's the past few decades, unless it was absolutely neccassary because they did not get along with the rest of the pod. Yes, they captured wild orca's in the past. Yes, they transferred orca's regularly in the past. But as I said, in the past. Ever since animal wellfare became more known and important since this century, a ton has changed both at SeaWorld and other zoos.
@kiskastudios60464 жыл бұрын
Agree with you all the way! Good zoos and aquariums should be supported greatly for conservation, education, research. Activists do not have the right to to criticize good aquariums and zoos. Their work is not easy, but they do it any way to show the power of a connection and love through the environment, it animals, and the world we all share.

how do you become a trainer???

You have to make animal psychology and marine biology studies.

You will have to take a swim test. I don't know if it's different for different types of trainers. I know for becoming a Dolphin trainer you have to swim to the bottom of the blue horizons pool.you also have to swim across the blue horizons pool with out taking a single breathe. It also helps to have a degree in some sort of animal studies. I'm going to study animal psychology. There are videos on KZfaq for it just search how to become a seaworld trainer

***** The swim test was before, in the 80. Now you have to have diplomas otherwise they don't take you. I know it because I wanted to work at Marineland Antibes. I asked the manager and he said no, they are not taken persons only on a swimming test. You have to make animal biology and marine psychology studies, and of course, you have to know to swim well. And only then, you may consider to be a trainer.

bailey heath Look up Kyle Kittleson. He's an ex-trainer who has a whole site + an e-book (I believe) which details how to become a marine mammal trainer, and what the job entails.
