DO NOT USE MY VIDEOS!!! YOU WILL BE REPORTED!!!
For everyones INFO, this is Keet if you read down below i say the same thing, this was taken in San Diego, and Tilikum is in Orlando. and they dont have a skywalk like san diego. and this is a MED POOL, a tiny pool so they could examine the orca, and it has a false bottom floor, to lift the whale up to perform check ups, and other stuff.
For Part 2 - • SeaWorld Trainers back...
I will just be calling it as i see it, "SeaWorld Trainers back in the water with the whales" whether its Desensitization or WaterWorks training, or whatever it is, please decide for yourself and please comment carefully lol i am not scientific nor would i want a debate with any of you lol as i would consider myself a newbie at this. i was shocked at first, as this was the first time i saw Whales and trainers together in a pool, whether its in the med pool/show pool or wherever. that explains the shaking video :P
3:50 pm Part 1 of 2 Keet with Katey... ok, ok, ok, its just the med pool(which is equipped with a Fast Rising Floor/False Bottom Floor almost like the ones they have in the left back pool, it takes about a minute and a few seconds as i sort of timed it one time they had ikaika i believe, i have to find that video) you can also see the other whales watch by gates #5 and #6 who are by the back pools, and i have watched Cetuscetus video, please watch her video as well with Shouka, SeaWorld Waterwork Desensitization Training, so sorry about the shaking, presenting, the gentle giant Keet with Trainer Katey, this is the first time i have seen the trainers in the water with the whales upclose, even if its just in the med pool, please remember as Cetuscetus wrote "The OSHA ruling which restricts trainer interactions with the whales applies ONLY to SeaWorld Orlando, not to SeaWorld San Diego as seen here" I do urge you guys to please be respectful of one another, whether you are Procap/Anticap, love/hate SeaWorld, scientific/newbie lol (like me) were all here for the whales, please Respect each other!

The trainers are only allowed in the water with the whales in some of the pools backstage as it has the raising floor incase something was to happen. There are no plans to bring back water work in shows at the moment. :)

Desensitizing is for if someone falls in as in Keltie Byrne. The chances of someone falling in and landing stood, or sat on an orca is very slim don't you think! They are taking the mess out of the OSHA ruling.

This is called a stimulation session it's used for the trainers to stimulate the whale's bodies. also these sessions are mostly done in pools with raiseable floors like this poll is the med pool witch has a raiseable floor. so if anything goes wrong the floor can come up and the trainers and staff can do what they need to do

I thought they said it woud not be authorized again? What will Seaworld say if another accident occurs? "The trainer slipped and fell in the water. He/She did not wear the right shoes" ? Makes me sick. They have to release the orcas and other whales. This is not where they belong.

It is good that they are still doing water desensitization just in case a trainer falls in. I doubt they will bring back waterworks, even though they can in San Antonio and San Diego.
@stephanierose9577
@stephanierose9577 8 жыл бұрын
This is waterworks- water constitutes being knee deep in water with a whale- it doesn't mean it has to be a show and this is against the rules. In fact, trainers are supposed to be 5-8 feet away from the whales even on land.
@aphroditewitch
@aphroditewitch 8 жыл бұрын
+Stephanie Merrill You might want to actually read the actual OSHA ruling because you are wrong. The 5-8 foot rule only applies to Tilikum in Florida and only during shows. Trainers and vet staff are allowed tactile sessions with Tilikum behind the scnese.
@stephanierose9577
@stephanierose9577 8 жыл бұрын
The ruling did not just apply to Tilikum and if you and everyone else would research the names of these killer whales and the countless times they have injured, hospitalized and killed or nearly killed a trainer maybe everyone would see that these animals do not belong in an artificial environment, working for food and money for the park owners and should be with their families in the wild where they belong. And the ruling states that no one is to be in doing waterwork with any killer whale unless it is veterinary care. And they recommended that trainers should be behind a barrier. This doesn't just apply to Tilikum- he's the biggest killer whale in captivity and just because he actually killed people doesn't make him any different- if you read the list ALL of these whales have shown aggression...and in some cases nearly killed people. Point is, these beautiful creatures should not be in captivity and should be released to seapens- they are not entertainment for humans.
@aphroditewitch
@aphroditewitch 8 жыл бұрын
+Stephanie Merrill Again, you clearly have not read the ruling. Waterworks are not being done in this video. This video is showing water desensitization. The trainers in this video are in the medical pool with floors that can be raised in the event that there is an issue. The barrier requirement only applies to Tilikum, otherwise OSHA would have cited SeaWorld for not doing it the other orcas. You can scream about others not doing research, but clearly you are the one who has not done your research, since you have not even bothered to read the ruling you keep talking about.

stormy seaward The trainer who was killed in the early 1990s in Canada fell in, she wasn't riding a whale. That park has refused to follow the suggestion that they do water desensitization as shown in the above video. And in the 2010 death, the trainer was not doing waterworks with the whale.
@kathiealvaro
@kathiealvaro 9 жыл бұрын
aphroditewitch Let's rephrase what stormy seaward said... it's amazing it took 3 deaths by 1 whale to realize how easy it is for any person or trainer to be killed by a whale. (Bottom line is SeaWorld doesn't really care that 3 people were killed, it cares about how much money they can make). Oh and about the trainers KELTIE (who "fell in"... actually she was pulling herself out when the whale grabbed her and pulled her back in) and DAWN ( who wasn't doing waterwork, but the whale grabbed her and pulled her in... funny how that whale remembered it could do that) they were people and they're dead and you're right they weren't even riding on a whale and they're dead anyway... they happened to be next to a whale, just NEXT to the whale.... and they're dead.
@aphroditewitch
@aphroditewitch 9 жыл бұрын
Kathie Lanoue Three whales were involved in the death of Keltie, not just one whale. And it is still debated which whale dragged her. Despite the revisionist history in Blackfish, all three whales had very similar dorsal fins. The fact that she was pulling herself out, doesn't change that she slipped and fell in the water. The Canadian marine park was warned that the rubber boots they made the trainers wear a fall risk. They were also told, they needed to desensitize the whales in case someone fell in. They failed on both counts. You don't offer up any solutions, you just want to scream at people online.
@kathiealvaro
@kathiealvaro 9 жыл бұрын
Not screaming at anyone at all. But thank you for pointing out that there are actually 5 whales in captivity involved in killing people and 0 whales in the wild involved in killing people.
@kathiealvaro
@kathiealvaro 9 жыл бұрын
Since all those things went wrong for Keltie and she's ..um..still dead, I'm trying to figure out if the point you're trying to make is that things got to be learned from her death? Guess that didn't work out too well since 2 more trainers have died since her.

Whether it is against the rules or not, I'm kind of glad she's in the water with him/her because otherwise they just lay in the water, get bored, don't have any human contact, ... I think they actually like the human contact (I don't mean the tricks and stuff but just the interaction). Second, it is so sad to see that this whale has to turn in such a small pool... I think orcas are so beautiful and they are such smart creatures, they really shouldn't be in captivity.

no tolerance "Back where they found them" Most of the Orcas in SeaWorld were born in the park or rescued from another park (Tilikum, for example). And anyways, while the "heartless" SeaWorld is rescuing animals, you are sitting on your ass criticizing a company that cares for their animals. Also, orcas are really struggling to survive out in the wild because of the lack of food, which is a pro for orcas in captivity. Also, one of the most common reasons people believe SeaWorld should shut down is because the migrate. But, according to RELIABLE sources (unlike Blackfish), some seem to not migrate at all, but the ones that do is because they need to avoid deadly tempatures. Therefore, if a wild orca's home were the tempature of their habitat in SeaWorld, they would most likely not migrate at all. You're welcome! :)

personally i have to say is that is good training for the whale... If they are not used to the trainer in the water and a trainer falls causing a frenzy with the whales because they are not used to the trainer in the water like Tilikum is then it could cause a life threatening scene like in 2010. Tilikum is not aloud to have trainers in the water EVER and even before the "rule" about no swimming with the whales he was not even aloud to have a trainer on the slide-over/platform where he can come up and pull on something. These people know the risk just like tiger trainers and lion trainers if they want to swim with them i believe they have a right to. They know which whale has an aggressive behavior and the ones who don't. There will always be people who think these whales need to be released and like Keiko (who died of hypothermia just after his release) they will have to be trained to hunt for themselves and they may never join a pod in the wild or introduce "friendly" behavior toward people to the wild Orca's causing more problems then most would think. Think about the animal and the changes it would have to make not just that but the overall weather and water change.

They've been back in the water with the whales for quite some time, just not during the shows. Ask any of the trainers, especially in San Diego, and they will tell you they can get in with the whales during training or check-ups, but just not during the shows. I was shocked, at first, too, when I saw a trainer jump into the med-tank with Keet, but the trainers readily jump in. "Riding" them like a horse - a long domesticated animal - is such a sorry sight to see.

It doesn't only apply to one park, or to show tanks. Seaworld got in bother again for this one . Check Los Angeles Times 13th Jan 2016 - www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-seaworld-osha-20160106-story.html. Rightly so too that is not desensitizing, the changes of falling into the pool and landing on the back of an orca is NIL. They were taking the mess yet again

no offense to the trainers but it's not just the people who come to the park but the trainers also. if every person would stop agreeing to get in the water with them without the barrier. don't u think maybe a lot of the parks wouldn't be able to continue to do what they do. I all of the creatures at the parks they're amazing to see no doubt but they shouldn't have to leave the open ocean just for entertainment would be no point in catching them cuz the parks wouldn't be open

Lots of reputable animal experts have praised the zoos and aquariums for their help for animals. Such as Sir David Attenborough, who thinks highly of the role played by the zoos and aquariums. The zoo quest have solved many scientific mysteries, and it is of considerable help in shaping the minds of people. Its appeal to children has improved the closeness of nature and people. The breeding programs have bred lots of endangered species, and it has saved lots of species from extinction. Do not demonize zoos and aquariums which both helped animals and people. Destroying them will only bring more ignorance to the society, and it will be the greatest tragedy for nature. Just like the period of Prohibition in the USA. Only when alcohol were no longer accessible through legal means, did people find so many problems will arise. Don't let that happen on zoos and aquariums! Because we will then regret for how many species we could have saved by zoos and aquariums, and they were gone because of some ill advised activists.

His fin fell😿
@karaolivia2952
@karaolivia2952 7 жыл бұрын
It collapsed due to the connective tissue in the dorsal fin which is not muscle since they receive reinforcement from the surface that is where they usually are. Also since these males have larger and taller dorsal fins it is more likely for theirs to collapse. So why is it a sad topic? The Killer Whales still act perfectly normal.

Those are not the conditions actually, It's a sign of the Killer Whale's dorsal fin being exposed to more air at the surface causing it to pressure it to lean. Nakai, a male in San Diego, has a perfectly straight dorsal alongside other Killer Whales. It's all due to the tissue leaning down.

everyone is and will have there own opinion about this but the whales at seaworld all are huge well feed and taken care of animals like you see at any zoo.... all you people saying biased things act as if you truly know but I don't see anyone getting mad at zoos for keeping monkeys in cages. Its because of the deaths that happened with the whales which if you are a level minded person you would also know that there have been lions who have attacked and killed people at zoos..and other animal killing in scenarios like these.. all animals will be animals,... just like you can have a perfectly normal dog that you had in your house and something can set it off....................should we bann people having dogs as well??

Zoos although still a form of captivity have proper care for animals. Sea World on the other hand is completely unjust. Orcas are huge creatures and no matter how big the tank is its exactly a TANK. The orcas are not free to rome they'll always hit a wall. Second of all Sea World takes the babies away from their mothers and ships them to other Sea World locations for what? People's amusement and profit. To top that when you mix up killer whales they don't just automatically bond, google "raking" its a real thing. They claim to do good for animals and maybe they do, but "breeding in captivity" isn't doing good its being utterly selfish.

ray norris Lions in the wild will attack and kill you. You're right, a dog can get "set off" by something and and turn from sweet to nasty. I'll agree the whales are well fed. I'll agree SeaWorld takes care of them. If they didn't they wouldn't make so much money. But guess what, whales in the wild have NEVER killed a person. They are well fed in the wild and they actually take care of each other. Whales at SeaWorld have attacked each other, died doing it, rake each other, engaged in incest (they don't do that in the wild). When whales at SeaWorld start acting like whale who live where God put them, I'll be ok with whales living at SeaWorld. Guess what, your local animal shelter puts down aggressive dogs and it's not the shelters fault they just can't send an aggressive dog out to be adopted. On the other hand it IS SeaWorlds fault the whales who live there act like they do.
