The best of fathers set their kids straight in a way that was a deviation from the norms of what society deems parenting. Now we see why households are what they've become today because father's can't lay down some law without it being offensive and mentally abusive to children. Ridiculous.

These are sad truths, that my Pop never knew a damned thing about me. He didn't know what I studied in elementary school or what my major was in college, or what jobs I held. He was at work all the time. I didn't see him when I was little,....he came home late from work, as I was going to bed and was gone in the morning before I was awake. I hated that he worked so hard,...but he did provide me with everything. I only wished I had gotten to know him better.

The crack about the dad not knowing where the school was is spot on, only time my dad ever said/asked me anything about school is when my mom showed him my bad report cards. No beating around the bush, belt came off, ass was whipped. The next day my dad would be outside showing me how to build shelving, cabinets, or asking me to change the oil in the little 70CC three wheeler I had. He was a tough man but he wanted more than a 55 hour week for low pay for me and my sister.

@ENDEAVOR RADIO CONTROL That's right. If she feels close to you and protected, she will feel relaxed and comfortable under your care. She will want that same feeling from a husband, and therefore seek out a man similar to you.

yup radical feminism is killing men because men cannot be men anymore without being shamed for it, we also cannot be weak without being shamed for it there is no winning until people decide what the fuck they really want. If you want manly men who know what they want and go after it people need to chill out on sensitivity and outrage culture. Dating needs to get back where people were comfortable enough to be approached in a way they may not like and be willing to say no. Telling men we cannot even flirt anymore without being a creep or harassment is fucking ridiculous. Family courts need to stop financially raping us all and maybe more men would start looking forward to the family life again instead of being scared away from it with the abundance of female driven divorces and having their kids taken away from them. There needs to be a real course correction in female to male relations before anything changes for the better.

Sebastian nails it. We KNEW at 6p when the evening news came on, we'd better be outside or in our rooms and not pestering our parents. Especially my dad. As I got around 8 yo I could sit with them in the LR watching quietly and could ask questions or comment during the commercials.
