I think it’s intertwined. Ferrari made him lose confidence which resulted in some mistakes which lead to more him losing more confidence and Ferrari pushing all the blame onto him. No doubt that they had a race winning car during 2017-18 but they weren’t organised like Mercedes. Mercedes is where it is because it is the most organised efficient team. Ferrari is a massive ego war and constantly swapping out management. How can seb improve when the team principle is kicked and replaced with a guy looking to replace you with leclcry. He’s a great driver but vettel didn’t get the stability like Lewis and max did. They had a solid team for years. Of course vettel did make mistakes which were his fault no doubt. But I’d say Ferrari were very cheeky in the way they hid their car performance and lack of discipline.

@@mustangus988 Yes he did fail the goal of winning the title... But did he fail himself... No, I don't think he did. Look at all the stupid decisions he made before Baku 2017 (more sporting decisions not driving). But I think after what happened that day he didn't want to be the bad guy anymore. You see he congratulated Hamilton for winning the title. Would he have done that in 2010. Probably not. Would he have shook Max's hand and reconciled after Britain 2019 in 2010. Probably not. And he gave the fans some awesome moments of brilliance. Like the pole in 2017 Singapore (that was a very cool lap. I don't think it was as good as Hamilton's the following year since he had a more competitive car, but 95% of other drivers couldn't have done that. And that 5% is Lewis and Max), the overtake for the lead at Silverstone 2018, and his final moment of glory for Ferrari in Turkey 2020. And he still makes us smile today with Aston Martin. If it wasn't for "Lance sTROLLED" in Monaco we would have remembered that overtake well, and the podium in Baku was very nice.

You forgot to mention that one of the reason Alonso managed to outshine his teammates in his Ferrari days was because Ferrari for some reason decided to built the team purely around Alonso whilst Massa and Kimi was completely thrown under the bus during that 4 seasons. The relationship between Alonso and those 2 were not good either due to the team radio scandals. The way Ferrari treated Massa and Kimi (Last Ferrari WDC btw) during those days was so disgraceful. It's incredible that Alonso managed to get the best out of the car, but also not surprising considering the circumstances he is in.

Lewis has amazing luck. His mental state must be stronger. Your reality is often what you think of it. Vettel use to be a beast in his younger years. But he has become more humble and I think aggressive drivers usually win more. Kimi for example could have won more and I think he’s the most unluckiest driver. 100 podiums, who has that many. But he’s often overlooked by a more vocal teammate and doesn’t get the car development the way he’d like it. I feel bad for vettel, 2019 Singapore was a shadow of his former self, we’re not likely to see that again. Only shadows of what he was.

Tbh, Ferrari never had the car to challenge Mercedes THROUGHOUT the season. They were good in the first halves, but in the second halves they were nowhere, thanks to brilliant development by Mercedes. And the spins he made, the errors he made, were well due to his immense ambition of doing good for Ferrari. Look at the spins in 2018, US and Japan, were due to the fact he was starting out of position of where he should start. He had to get ahead to keep the hopes alive. 2017 tho was a better chance, but reliability destroyed him again. But yes, he failed, he made mistakes, cracked under pressure situations, lost to Leclerc. But whatever maybe, he will always be the reason I started watching F1, I watched the whole Mercedes domination, only for the hope that this man can do something about them. He'll always be a legend. Bravo Seb. You have done enough to make us fall in love with the sport. #dubistweltmeister

Vettel will always be a legend. A great champion and always will be the best Ferrari driver in my heart, the memories of the joy and the lows with his time at Ferrari, it was a rollercoaster but it was amazing to witness what he could do

A Champion!!! A legend!!! And most importantly a super human being!!! I am hopeful that a day will come when he will be a champion again. Dont know if I'd be able to control myself, but don't care. I just wish. Go Seb. Go go go!!!!!

I cried everytime the clip plays vettel’s 2018 getmany crash…everytime. To think that that season was his only ultimate chance to win the championship, yet everything went downhill after that and he had to say goodbye to his 5th championship title

Germany 2018... The f*cking moment... Ferrari couldn't just f*cking tell Raikonnen to let Seb by, he hurt his tires and didn't have any grip in the slightly wet turn 12... He also had front wing damage and the didn't f*cking pit him

what a bullshit XD don’t you remember 2018 ?? Baku, Germany, Italy, Japan, USA his obvious mistakes and people still saying lies like “Ferrari failed” And next year 2019 he was beaten by a rookie in Ferrari team, while Ferrari clearly treated VET as a number 1 driver. Ferrari as a big historical F1 brand paid him over 40 Million € per year and he lost in 2018 WDC with equal/faster car to mercedes and in 2019 with a rookie. He WAS great but he ISN’T great no more.

You can just feel how much Seb cares about Ferrari. Even after what happened. You just know how much he dreamt of winning there and how much it must've hurt to let that go even if it was for his own good. Ferrari really did pushed its biggest fan out the back door.
