I do two things in this video. First, I'll show you how to maintain a Sebo E3 as an owner. Second, I'm going to compare the amount of time and effort maintaining the Sebo vs. a bagless machine... in this case my Shark Apex Duo-Clean Zero M.
Who wins? Let me know in the comments!

Really well made video. You can tell I’m making my way through these! I have an E3 Premium (white model with the power head) had it nearly 3 years and it’s been perfect.

Ha, that's hilarious. It is still sitting around the shop collecting dust. I'll occasionally use it to show how clunky the maneuverability is compared to other uprights. Someday it will find a home...

You are right on with maintenance on shark. It's a PIA totally. Owned them 7 years. Going back to normal bagged canister now. Probably a Sebo.

Thanks for watching and commenting! It's true, bagless seems attractive in theory, but they are not great in practice. Sebos are fantastic. There are other good brands out there, but honestly Sebo is the one that I come back to when customers want something reliable. If you ever think it is time for that new vacuum, feel free to reach out... I would be happy to give you a quote. Cheers!

Even the Miele Bagless has some major issues (Aside from its 2nd stage filter getting clogged, its HEPA filter's actually part of the motor housing and inaccessible to the customer !).

I have had both - bagless much more work to stay clean not to mention more exposure breathing in dirt/dust. IMO bagged is the way to go.

I stopped using my Dyson V6 and V8 because they were a royal pain to clean after anything but a trivial vacuum session. The cyclones didn't keep the secondary filters from getting filled with dust (and those were difficult to clean).

So true. I do have a V6, V8 and V10 that I use for battery tests... the best way to empty them is with a bagged machine! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7N6oZmb1cWnfqM.html

Changing an style 7 in my bissell and pre motor once an month/8 months for the filter vs changing the old Shark filters and constantly taking 10 minutes to empty the bin. The bissell is way easier/faster and cleaner. (And that’s an lower end budget bagged vac!)

Thanks for the overview! For a house that is all carpet, which would you choose: the E3 or the Felix?
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Daisy! In terms of cleaning, they both clean very well. The E3 has a slight edge due to a more powerful motor and the velocity stacking hose design. For most people, I think the choice will really come down to preference between uprights and canisters. My preference is canisters for a few reasons. The handle weight is lower on the canister, making it easier on the shoulder and arm to use for long periods of time. They are also able to get further under low furniture. I also like have 7 feet of hose at my disposal, whereas the Felix has about 3 feet of hose. Just a few things to think about, but you really can't go wrong either way. Let me know if you have any other questions!

My FELIX worked well until installation of ultra plush carpet, which the FELIX kinda bogged down in. The E3's offering much less drag and higher suction when needed (hose can get in the way, though).

My Shark fins stop all hair wrapping. Why don’t these a players pick up on fin technology?
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 2 жыл бұрын
The simple answer is agitation. The fin system, while helpful for hair wrapping, does not open up the carpet fibers as far so the cleaning is not as deep. Like everything, when you gain something you usually lose something else. Shark likes new things to advertise even it if comes with compromises... Sebo is just all about old-school cleaning. It is really a matter of preference. Thanks for watching and commenting!

May I know why it’s not advised to not submerge it for cleaning?
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 3 жыл бұрын
For Sure! The upper lid of the Shark is hollow, which allows water to get in and sit. If it isn't full dry when you use it again, you run the risk of bleeding moisture into the motor which can effect motor lifespan. On Dysons, there are a ton of little air chambers and pathways in the top cyclone assembly. If you submerge that it is almost impossible to air dry... so all that moisture will definitely be heading for your motor. Hope that helps!

You didn't mention that a 4 pack of Shark filters and the secondary brush rolls are super affordable, but I love my SEBO D4 and My Shark, they make a great combo for my furry cats.

They are, but really so are bags when you break it down on a per bag basis. I just prefer the simplicity of maintaining a bagged machine for what is, essentially, the same price as maintaining a bagless. Cheers!

A video idea: The use and features, even if simple, of the Sebo E3 Premium. There are no videos out like that. Miele has TONS, Sebo not so much... especially the E3.

Cost of bags? You said you use a bag a month, my current vacuum gets full on a daily basis. I’m not sure I could afford a bag a day! I have three kids and they are wild so it’s really a lot to vacuum

One E3 Observation: pulling bag from pack and dropping it into the E3 has resulted (here) in bag leakage on bottom __and__ the bag not unfolding inside the bag cavity (no dust inside the unfolded portion !!!). A problem for bagged vacuums? My workaround's to completely unfold the bag, __then__ put it in the bag chamber making sure nothing gets pinched during closure.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you definitely want to puff out the bag by hand and make sure that the bag is not obstructing the door seal. That ought to keep you in good shape!

What are you spraying on the Shark filters? You're really only supposed to use water to wash them, since soaps may leave a residue that causes issues with filtration.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 2 жыл бұрын
Good question! It is a commercial degreaser. I probably wouldn't use a traditional soap on the filters for the reason you mentioned, but a liquid degreaser like Simple Green is much less likely to leave residue and gets a ton more dirt out of the foam. In my mind, leftover dirt will restrict air more than trace residue left by a degreaser. Thanks!

I often rinse those just-cleaned bagless foam filters with distilled water to make sure no mineral residue gets left in them.
