Secluded Waterfall, Huia Point + Burgers by the Beach - WAITAKERE RANGES (West Auckland)

2 жыл бұрынThe Waitakere Ranges are a stunning part of West Auckland. It's one of our favourite areas in the Auckland region for its beautiful nature and coastline.
We started our day off with Jo Bros Burgers from Street Feast located in The Rise and took them over to Titirangi Beach to enjoy. Quality burgers using fresh ingredients and buns baked daily, coupled with their signature sauce made these humble classic burgers something pretty special.

Just 20 mins drive away, Huia Point Lookout offers fabulous panoramic views of Huia Bay and the Manukau Harbour. The best part is you can drive pretty much right to the lookout to enjoy the sweeping scenery.
Only 5 mins drive from Huia Point Lookout is Karamatura Valley where we went to do the Karamatura Loop Walk. The full loop was closed when we went, but it's roughly 45 mins to reach the pretty little waterfall. There are stairs throughout the walk but nothing too challenging. There are more as you get closer to the falls itself though. Remember to stick to your right after crossing the stream to get to the waterfall otherwise you'll probably end up on the much longer Donald Mclean track instead.

Love The Waitakeres ~ from my school days tramping through to Piha and staying in a hut in the bush , a beautiful part of NZ . One thing I have learned from watching your videos , Don't watch them if you are hungry ! Peter you could be a food salesman ~ those burgers ! I can tell that you both really love West Auckland and I can see why. Every time I bring the family over from Australia and the aeroplane flies over the Waitakeres , my wife says oh wow and I am home again . Thank You

Great to see you guys checking out my part of town. Yes born and bred Westie here and it was a great place to grow up in but things have changed. I sold my land out at Karekare and brought in a cheaper part of NZ. Less crime and traffic and way more affordable. I suppose you want to be close to your folks but if they're retired already there's no reason (except for food maybe? lol) for any of you to stay in the AKL rat race.

Trading the expensive Auckland property for a cheaper one out of town plus some cash in the bank seems the way to go when settling down. But yes we still stay in Auckland for our family friends n the variety of food. Only thing out of wack is the property prices 😅

Thank you for sharing your trip to West Auckland, Peter and Yen. Frankly, I have been living in West Auckland for more than 17 years, but never went beyond the Lower Nihotupu Dam. Definitely, we will arrange a trip to the Huia Point Lookout and Karamatura Falls. The same as you two, we have been locked in Auckland since the outbreak in August. Our latest trip was to the Omeru Scenic Reserve and Shelly Beach. Both are near Helensville. There should be two falls to see at Omeru, but one was temporarily closed to the public. Shelly Beach was nice - full of shells on the beach. 😀

🤣🤣😂 Peter has rarely been able to surprise me too! I usually even know my gifts before I get them coz I'm too switched onto things he slips up and says or does 🤣 I even knew when he bought my engagement ring coz he mentioned something by accident and then I even knew when he was about to propose coz I saw where he "hid" the box which was on our lil Christmas tree 😂😂😂😂 Ahh you'll have to wait till Sunday to find out now what he says.. I was like "it would've been nicer as a surprise!" but Peter said "nah now he'll look forward to it 😂" 😅 and I retorted "or be left curious what you could've possibly said for the week leading to the video! 😅". It's lucky you don't have other social media otherwise you would've probably guessed it from our Instagram! 😆 Hahaha you couldn't wait with the OVAs huh 😆 there's also a chibi series too but I don't actually remember what they covered.. just cute stuff lolol

Hey you two,hope you had an excellent Xmas and New Year. Haven't seen any of your vlogs for over a month now,since my phone shit itself (throwing it at a wall didn't help), but anyhoo,got another phone now so binge watching what I've missed since. Awesome upload,especially cos Titirangi rocks,got many friends out those ways. For a start,we'll get it out of the way,again those food segments are absolute killer,especially those burgers (and yes,been there,and that food is the real deal),but again just watching Peter eat and the delight he gets is brilliant - you should just do a vlog of you two eating ! But around the Waitakari Ranges is awesome,was looking at a few houses around Cornwallis a few years back,so it's understandable how Peter has fallen in love with the place. Also,yes you guys were at that lighthouse on Manukau Heads last year .I took some of my kids there last week,as we were out at Big Bay,not far from there. Awesome out there as you are looking straight over to Cornwallis and over to Huia. A great vlog,especially as I'm familiar with all those places you visited. Well,gotta bounce,got some beers ready and gonna watch the rest of your vlogs I missed.

Hey mate happy 2022 to you and the whole fam! hahaha bummer bout the phone but glad you've gotten yourself a new one. Do enjoy some good burgers especially when the patties are made from prime high quality kiwi cattle. West Auckland is definitely the spot to live I think. If we are able to get a nice piece of land looking out at the water with a small home that would be absolutely perfect. Low maintenance and idyllic setting. Glad yall enjoyed the light house its a cool spot, think kids would enjoy it too cause you can go in the actual lighthouse.

@@PeterandYen Cheers guys,yeah around the Waitakari area is awesome,but the cost of land is fairly daunting,especially heading towards any waterline,but at the end of the day,the peace of mind you'd get from living there is priceless. Yeah,the lighthouse at Manukau Heads was great,the kids (all in their 20s only came along,cos I had all the beer in my Jeep,and they weren't allowed any until we went there first - train them young I say),but what an awesome view on a great sunny morning.

Burgers are always a great option...I feel we say that about every food, we are such fat foodies hahaha. Nice to try the vegan version too. I am so surprised about the taste of all the vegan options I have tried, even though as you two, we are not vegan or vegetarians but when I had vegan food, I am always blown away by the flavor. Lieles keeps saying he can try to live with no meat for a year as a cleanse, but I am not that strong.

Burgers by the beach sounds super awesome!! Love vegan mock meat, especially Beyond meat, it's so similar to the real thing. Peter's burger looks very good too, can't say no to a classic beef burger. Hahaha Peter gotta do more convincing to Yen 😁. If money is not an issue, whereabout in Auckland would you live for the rest of your life? Omg how have we not gone to all these places out west? Like how.. I live out west but we always say oh man there's no where to go lmfoao but you guys proved me wrong. SO thanks to you guys.. I think I'll plan a day for my partner and I to do a lunch/hike day if this weekend is good :) Thanks for sharing all your videos with us guys! @@PeterandYen actually we've driven past titirangi to go to piha and muriwai and all that and just stopped in to get drinks but that's about it lol we got lost trying to go to the titirangi beach lmao we just drove down and found another hidden spot where boats go but it was still alright :) thanks again guys :) cant wait to see your next vlog :)

We didn't even plan to go to Titirangi Beach.. just drove about and ended up there haha great lil spot but later learnt that it's not safe for swimming apparently 😅 Thanks Marie! Tomorrow's vlog is gonna be Peter's 7 day weight loss challenge 🙂💪
