Second Alarm House Fire - Fairfax County, VA

Units from Fairfax County, Arlington County, and Montgomery County battled a major second alarm house fire in the McLean area of Fairfax County. The initial call to 911 was for a fire alarm in a house, called in by the alarm company, in which E401, T429 were dispatched for. The call was quickly upgraded to a house fire when dispatch received multiple calls stating the house was actually on fire. E401 then requested a RIT Level 1, on top of the upgraded response, due to multiple callers all stating the house was fully involved. E401 arrived first due, and stated they had a large, two story single family, with heavy fire from the second floor, and that there were also issues with a lack of hydrants in the area. Due to access issues from trees and extremely small streets, units were unable to access the house with any ladders, so firefighters had to fight the fire from the ground. Because the lack of water supply, and amount of fire command quickly requested a second alarm, and tanker task force, brining extra resources, and tankers to the scene.

Special Alarm: M110, M402, E439
Note- I apologize for the trees and bushes in the way, access to the house was terrible. In fact, I was standing in someone else’s yard, and there were trees to either side of me, so it was the only open place where I could get to get remotely close to the house. You can’t really see it on camera, but the house’s yard is completely surrounded by trees, so if I stood on the street you couldn’t see any of the house. I had to squeeze into a small opening between trees and bushes in someones yard to get the access I did, and that was the only place where you could see the house. Good job to the Fairfax, Arlington and Montgomery counties for their hard work! Apparently from the comments some people just want y'all to run in a fully involved house on fire with no cares and concerns. smh

Ask yourself the Important question! What were they doing in there without putting the fire out first? They had access to the burning material and a charged line yet they were inside accomplishing NOTHING!

@@jacobboxberger1983 V - Vent the windows at the burning room. E - Extinguish all Visible Burning Material through those windows. V - Vent more windows in areas where victims could be. E - Enter and extinguish burning material while searching for victims. Before and entry team could be assembled, fully dressed and get the door open, the vast majority of the fire could be extinguished on Tank Water. That's if you joined the service to Protect civilians and not just look like you could.

Great footage! You must have got there about same time as the FD. Where was Tower 401? I recall they were not available for the mansion fire that was about couple years ago. The former Tower 430 was there instead. That fire was practically around the corner from today's fire.

TL401 was filling another fire station that day and were actually on an accident on the beltway when the fire was dispatched. We spent the whole last day of the tour making sure they know what they missed ;P

America's Bravest! These guys couldn't get a job sweeping floors. They don't have the necessary Work Ethic! All those "Officers" "Leaders" and not ONE thinks that enough water has been put through that one opening. It takes more than Joining Up, Dressing Up and Showing Up to be a REAL Fire Fighter!
