Two Disney Dudes

2 жыл бұрын

Back to Paris after two days in Disneyland Paris. We drop our bags off at the hotel and then walk over to Notre Dame. Next, we take the Big Bus tour around the city. We then check in and do a room tour of our hotel, Hotel Victoria Chatelet. After a short rest, we walk to the Moulin Rouge and then continue walking to the Sacre-Coeur. Finally, we walk to Palais Garnier opera house and then finally back to our hotel.
We have lunch at Paris Baguette boulangerie and dinner at Café Palais Royal.

the water fountain that you guys used was a 'Wallace'. Wallace Fountains of Paris have been dispensing clean drinking water to residents and visitors for 150 years. The original fountains were a gift to the people of Paris from Sir Richard Wallace, an Englishman. These public drinking fountains have great historic, artistic, cultural and social significance.

Thanks for the info! I've been to a lot of cities and only in Paris were drinking fountains brought up to the level of art. And the water in Paris was very good so we filled up our water bottle every chance we could get in the public drinking fountains. Also, I feel like it's more sanitary than the drinking fountains that everyone puts their mouths all over.

Hello dudes, Justice behind the Palais de Justice on the left, you have filmed the Sainte-chapelle. This is the most exceptional and beautiful monument in all of France. But not a lot of people knows about it. If you still have time, I encourage to visit it, especially on a sunny day, and I can assure you, you will not regret it.

We found out more about this place on the last day when we did a bike trip. But we didn't have the time to visit it as the bike tour was the last thing we did before flying out. But it's on my list for our next trip to Paris.

yes, the Disneyland Paris video is upcoming. It was going to be the next video but I decided that it was better thematically to do all the London days followed by all the Paris days. I thought it might throw people off if Paris - Day 1 wasn't followed by Paris - Day 2.

Window screens are not at all used in the UK as there is simply no need.. Our double or tripple- glazed windows are far more substantial than in USA and as you noticed cut out almost all external noise.
@TwoDisneyDudes

You make very good points. Plus screens would negatively affect how the building looks, which is something to consider in a historic building.

A couple of things. (1) It's a Paris- Brest cake ("Parree-Brest") named after the Paris-Brest-Paris Bicycle Race (Now not a race but an endurance event. 1200km in a permitted 90 hours). I needed to tell you that because I did it in 2011 and 2015 and it's bloody hard actually. (2) It's not "Soo-kray" for sugar, it's "Sookr" You almost don't pronounce the R even. My tip for speaking French is start saying the word then, as you get to the last syllable, don't pronounce it..... just almost say it (if that makes any sense, pretend you are going to say it, make everyone think you are going to say it .... just don't say it.) Example. Americans always say Bonjour "Bon- jooo- werrrrrr", but it's much more like "Bohhn-Juhhhh", much more nasally.
@TwoDisneyDudes
@TwoDisneyDudes Жыл бұрын
Wow... that endurance event sounds very difficult. Congrats on doing it twice! And thanks for the correction on the pronunciation. I knew that I would get some things wrong even though I did research.

Interesting observation... and one we didn't make while we were there. But in retrospect I would say that it wasn't as diverse. But it also depended on the neighborhood. There were many more people of color near the train station than there were near our hotel, for example.

Center Paris is quite expensive, posh. Outside the center you have very multicultural arrondissements, for exemple the XX with a lot of different communities, some here since beginning of XX century, some more recent. Certain arrondissements are less melting pot, as the XXIII with people originally from Asia. When you take the metro at Rushhour you will see a really melting pot.
