Ex-Marine John Stewart inherits Hal Jordan's Power Ring and flies to Justice League's Watch Tower to confront Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, and Vixen after discovering the Green Lantern Corps slaughtered on Oa. The Justice League cannot believe Hal Jordon's Death and fights John Stewart in order to capture him.
However, after a lengthy battle they begun to Investigate the mysterious destruction of Oa. They ally with Shayera Hol and Adam Strange to uncover a devastating Thanagarian-Rannian war, reignited by a catastrophic experiment gone wrong, that supposedly killed Hal Jordan.

So the man with a ton of green lantern rings, empowered by Parralax on top of all of that, just goes down from a single arrow through the chest? Let’s not forget that he took out the entire Lantern corps, large number of Thanagarians and their enemy faction as well. Feels rather anticlimactic.

Batman's no kill rule isn't a moral line, it's because he knows he's so psychotic he'll never be able to stop himself if he does it once.

One thing younger fans may not know is just how much GL fans, Hal Jordan fans, specifically, LOST THEIR COLLECTIVE SH*T over this storyline back when it was in the comics. I think it was even pre internet, or, at least, early days of internet times, and this movie condenses years of story spread out over comics. Personally, and I have no proof or evidence of this, but, I think Parallax was kind of made up by the writers mid storyline to give them an out, where Hal was not the bad guy, and had not turned evil. as, in the comic plotlines, he'd started killing fellow Lantern Corps members to claim their rings to use the collective power to try and revive an entire city on Earth that had been obliterated.

I strongly disliked this movie. It made no sense at all. I'm a fan of John Stewart but a newbie GL vs an experienced and powerful with multiple rings GL?? Hal would had..as my non-existent son would say.." clapped them cheeks booooiiiii"

I am an Hal Jordan fan and I liked the Twilight story, it was well written and showed how Hal lost everything, his family, his friends due the obliteration of Coast City. It made sense that at that point he was broken and went to do everything to get back what he lost, becoming a villain in the process. At the end he became the main villain in the multiversal saga called Zero Hour. Parallax at the time wasn't a fear entity, it was just the nickname he adopted after took all the Battery Power for himself. He didn't want just to bring Coast City back, he wanted to rewrite the whole reality so everybody have a happy ending. It was very well written. Too bad the whiny babies complain and they had to create the retcon that Hal wasn't the one to blame and he was just being controlled by Parallax...

If the no killing rule was broken, then DC would have ended soon due to no more villains running amok. But I believe that was the point.

The movie is Green Lantern: Beware my Power. A movie of the "Tomorrowverse", seems this is a part of the new timeline Flash created after creating Flashpoint for the second time during Dark Apokolips War.

Yes, nothing builds up a derivative character like tearing down a classic. For our next trick: let's make a movie about Dick Grayson where Bruce Wayne/Batman died in a battle against the Joker... but really, for the surprise twist, we find out that he broke his "no killing rule", killed the Joker, and then when nuts from the act and became the new Joker. Yeah... that'll build up Nightwing to look like a classy replacement! ------ Obviously I'm kidding and making a point: it's a low blow to do a story about a successor to a legacy where you take an established hero and tear down their legacy.

And to this day, Hal is portrayed as a showboating idiot in the DC animated movies, making him annoying in conversation and almost irrelevant in combat despite having the most powerful weapon in the universe.

Wow. I guess the saying,”You either die as a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Applies here (hopefully I said that right). What a way to go for someone who was considered the best of the green lanterns. But moving on to John Stewart,in my opinion,this has got to be one of the best character starts I’ve ever seen. The guy was already a fighter and a good person who went on to become a hero. Though he may not have wanted to be apart of all of this he came around and helped to defeat a great evil.
