Lighting is from Kmart- maybe not the bulbs (or maybe the bulbs), but the lights are also from Kmart days.

I am part of a Facebook group that someone posted an entire list of Kmarts (current and former). The Newark, OH store opened 11/15/79 and closed January 1996.

It is so cool when you see a old building that being repurposed as another business and know by the style you can tell what it use to be. My old Bi Lo Grocery store is now Ollies/Tractor Supply and you can still see the old Bi Lo in there Also great job nate

I live about 3 miles from that Big Lots. My gf was born and raised here and said that is 100% the old KMart.

So I finally found some info on this old former Kmart. As it turns out, this one originally opened in November 1979 and closed in January 1996. No wonder it's so hard to find info on it.

The Big Lots portion still looks exactly like a Kmart down to the merchandise and everything. It's like they just came in and re-branded without touching anything else.

I actually worked at this KMart store for about 6 months in the mid 1980's. The red doors toward the back were not there, those are something Tractor Supply added. By making one store into two stores, they appear to have cut it in half. I know the store opened in late 1979 at about the same time the abandoned Kroger store opened at the other end of the shopping center and closed in late 1995. I have only gone in there once or twice since it became Big Lots and I don't think I've been in there at all in 15 years. By the year 2000, you could still find 3 KMart stores in the Columbus area, one on Brice road at the far north end, one on Refugee road just off Hamilton road and finally one in the south Columbus suburb of Grove City. When they finally closed the Grove City store, it was the last remaining KMart in Ohio. I remember at Christmas time our store was swamped and the store manager and the 3 assistants had to put in 100 hours a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was then I knew there was no way I wanted to make a career of that place. As of 2022, only 3 Kmart stores remained in existence, one in New Jersey, one on Long Island and the other in Miami Florida. You can still order items from them online.

The old Kmart here in Columbia, MO is now a Best Buy and Hobby Lobby. You wouldn't have even known it was a Kmart because it was completely overhauled.

One of my area K Mart is sitting empty and the other turned into a AtHome store which is a home decor store.

I miss our K-Mart in Clarksville, Indiana. Opened November 1967 and never updated. Still looked the same when it closed in 2000 and moved to a “new” K-Mart building. The original one had the Grill at the back of the store and was done in blue and orange.

Awesome video of the former Kmart which is now a Big Lots and a Tractor Supply Chain store in a very nice setting around other businesses nearby and there's even a Bob Evans in the background.

We had an old Roses store that reminded me of this!!! Finally a dollar store chain took it over, still called Roses, but merchandise is all different!

There used to be a restaurant in the back of that Kmart right next to the electronics where I used to demo the Super Nintendo when it came out. My mom and my grandma used to go there all the time I remember my grandma used to get Submarine sandwiches Brahma food kiosk that was basically right in front of the doors. All the memories Tractor Supply used to be where the Walgreens is now. And that whole side where Walmart is used to be nothing but a field all the way down to the Goodyear Tire Shop period and 21st Street used to be a two-lane road

Kmart in my area closed years ago and part of it is a Tractor Supply and Big Lots and then later Big Lots closed but Tractor Supply is still there and there is also other businesses that took over part of the building.

Tractor supply didn't do much. Just replaced signage. I'd be surprised if they didn't miss something.

There's a Rural King in Greenwood, Indiana that used to be a Kmart, they kept the giant K-vents, but changed up the lighting

Martin Music closed back in July, and their new location is sitting abandoned to this day

My K-Mart in Burlington NJ was gutted out and it now a Shop-Rite supermarket. Ny other K-Mart in Moorestown NJ is now Home Goods and flows into the Marshall's next door.

That's odd that they left the Kmart facade up and painted half and half like that, I mean it's cool for Kmart fans, but still odd considering that they split the building in half.

My brother worked there from the early 80's until they closed in 1996 then he transferred to the Mount Vernon Oh store and was there until it closed.

At the back of the store there used to be a cafitera with booths you could set and eat.

The K-Mart in Tracy, CA was split 3 ways between Big Lots, Dollar Tree, and Ace Hardware. The Big Lots side still feels like K-Mart.

Those specific entrance façades needed a facelift as soon as Kmart built them.

Call Kmart in Marshal Michigan they're still open and not closing i called them they're doing well in sales. It's not cool like Kmart in the 70s-80s, it's like a late 90s early 00s Kmart, BUT it's a Kmart still open. Happy 4th btw 💣💣💣

l think the red carts were probably the same carts from when it was a kmart and if you peel of the big lots tag off the cart it will propably say kmart on it.
