John Karlen played Willie Loomis on Dark Shadows - the guy who robbed the Collins mausoleum and released Barnabas Collins (Frid) from his coffin. Jerry Lacy played the evil Rev. Trask, Catherine Leigh Scott played Maggie Evans and Josette Collins, Lewis Edmunds played Roger Collins, and Roger Davis played several roles in Dark Shadows (1966-1971). They reprised their roles in House of Dark Shadows.

Cassandra Peterson is such a legend. I'd love it if they made a biographical film of her.

I love Elvira. I remember as a kid watching her show in the '80s. When she used to sit on her red velvet couch and introduced the horror movie that was going to be played. Those were good times.

First time commenting on one of your videos. I’m from England, especially Birmingham. We have a walk of fame, there’s stars but there’s also signatures and hand and sometimes shoe prints and other things, it’s mainly music I know so there’s so bands like ELO and black sabbath so 0zzy Osborne.

Those other names on the "House of Dark Shadows" block all appeared in the tv show Dark Shadows. Jerry Lacey was Reverend Trask. He was known for a superb imitation of Humphrey Bogart. He did this in the Woody Allen movie, "Play It Again, Sam." It's worth checking out!👍

Jonathan Frid, Dark Shadows. When I was a kid in the late 60's I watched that show from time to time but my brother watched it every weekday for 5 or more years. I think it was on after school, we would walk to Catholic school, let the nuns smack us around then go home to watch Barnabas Collins the vampire. I also remember my brother had a life size Barnabas Collins poster on the outside of his bedroom door. One night my father came upstairs (in the dark) long after us kids had gone to bed. When he got to the top of the stairs he saw the poster on the outside of my brother's bedroom door and thought someone was standing there. He ran halfway back down the stairs and shouted "who's there?". Funny how seeing Jonathan Frid's name made me remember all this from over 50 years ago.

I believe Mr. Quarry starred with Vincent Price and Peter Cushing in Madhouse as well. :)

If you look at Elvira's 2nd Movie Macabre show that she did about 10 years ago, you can see that the opening was done at this theater. The decorations around the ticket box office are exactly the same. You get a peek inside the theater, too

The inside is gorgeous! All Egyptian themed. Reminds me of an Indiana Jones movie. You can drive a car down the last few aisles!! Amazing space. The manager dresses up on opening night as whatever the movie is!

Great video! It has been many years since I've gone to the Vista. When I was a teen in 1979, a friend of mine and I went to the premiere of ALIEN at the Egyptian Theater (you should do a vid on that one too). The main lobby was loaded with a ton of props used in ALIEN including the Space Jockey. It was incredible. The next day, a crazed lunatic who thought it was a real alien invasion got in and torched several of the props and they had to close the exhibit. Crazy times in Hollywood lol.

Thank you for this tour. How exciting it must have been to see these famous people! Auggh! I miss the theater!

I once had the privilege to see Jonathan Frid perform some Shakespeare at the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Va. He was amazing. Afterward, he came out and talked to us, and he really made an impression on me. I wanted to be like him when I grew up, and I was already grown up. Well, never too late! It was great to see him honored among such good company. Thanks for sharing your visit. 🙂

When you do the video on Forrest J. Ackerman, try to get hold of Joe Moe on Facebook. He was Uncle Forry’s caretaker at the end of his life and has worked several of the horror conventions and done panels about Forrest. He lives in L.A. and is one of the greatest human beings I’ve met.

You guys should do a video on Harold and Maude. It's twisted enough, and a ton of the locations are still there in places like Half Moon Bay (I can tell you exactly where that shot was taken), Hillsboro, Palo Alto, Santa Cruz, Dumbarton Bridge, Mori Point, all the cemeteries, the place where Maude falls through the hole (Sutro Baths, SF)... It would make a very cool video!

I love that theater.! When I lived in Los Angeles I would always go there to see The Mummy movies. The inside is Egyptian/art deco. It's so beautiful. You guys are making me miss L.A. lol

ahhhhh I see at 03:47 the 'Night of Dark Shadows' horror movie hand prints of the recently deceased actor Christopher Pennock. Next to his prints are those of his good friends, actors from Dark Shadows Nancy Barrett and James Storm. The three of them were very well known soap opera actors. Nancy Barrett was the beautiful vampire that got staked in the ' House of Dark Shadows' MGM movie from 1970. Hand prints of Barbara Steele, composer Robert Cobert and actress Karen Black who both worked with horror movie Director Dan Curtis. Trilogy of Terror TV movie and the 1991 Dark Shadows Revival series with Barbara Steele. With those lady's hand prints with the music composer Mr. Robert Cobert who scored all of the music for Dark Shadows, Burnt Offerings, Trilogy of Terror , The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler TV movies and the Winds of War mini series and all of Director Dan Curtis' TV movies . Cool actor Jonathan Frid who played Barnabas Collins, the first TV vampire with a soul and a conscience.

James Karen played Craig t. Nelson’s (Steven Freeling)’s boss in Poltergeist. Steven was a realtor in the movie, and he and the family moved into the first tract development, not knowing it was built over the old cemetery (which his boss reveals later on)

I used to live right down the street (corner of Sunset Dr. & N. Hoover) and worked from home. It took 4 minutes to walk to the Vista, so my wife and I would often catch $8 matinees in the middle of a weekday and have the theater completely to ourselves! Missing LA, especially Los Feliz, so much lately. Can't wait to come back soon!
