A hidden BMX track near Eugene's Franklin Park and I-5 has apparently been there for decades, and very few people have heard about it.

Why is this a story you’re proud of. Destroying something that’s been a positive for decades for a local news story?!?

I have a lot of fond memories of going down there as a kid with friends. It's been there for years. And it's probably gonna get dozed now, all for the sake of a news story. Thanks ruining it for other generations to discover.

Instead of exposing corrupt politicians, sleazy businesses, or quack doctors, let's expose people with literally no money or power. Also this info-babe seems more concerned about someone's agenda than the issue of the homeless. How about we deal with the homeless first and worry about public safety second? Isn't living by the river a public safety problem anyway?

This spot is a huge homeless camp now. Trash, needles, all sorts of fun stuff as far as the eye can see. I never got to ride here and was looking for a cool place to bring my kids. Went to scope it out, and promptly left disappointed and disgusted.

Good job exposing this danger to the public! Instead of building a BMX track those kids should be indoors playing video games or hooked on opioids.

Kids and adults use biking to get out and have fun. Also nice after a good day of work or school. It keeps the kids active and teaches them mechanics skills when working on their bike. I’m very happy our town has added a park like this for the public. Not get it destroyed like this news lady. Seriously lady, maybe try supporting your community.

Another one flattend for no reason at all. This shit happens on Australia too. Instead they want us to go to skateparks where we could accidently hit a 5 year old on a scooter and possibly give them a serious injury. These bmx/mtb trails have their own community that maintains and cares for them. Not the local council who "cant afford it" Parks like this is keeping teens off the streets and councils just flatten them out and then homeless usually go and setup tents their. Im all for giving homeless people land to sleep but im also for getting the next generation of bmx riders a spot to have fun and chill out away from the streets. I grew up with bmx trails similar to this in Australia, we worked our butts off for sometimes 10 hours each day building jumps and finally getting the satisfaction to jump them. Before meeting people on the bmx trails I had some bad "street" friends but once we got onto bmx we never saw them friends again. Now I'm my mid 30s we still go down s few times a year with friends and also teach the next generation of riders. Would you rather bmx riders doing jumps over dangerous things on the street possibly harming themselves and others? Or would you rather them safely doing them on dirt jumps made for it without harming anybody? It's amazing how stupid our "leaders" are. Just because you didn't authorise it, it doesn't mean it doesn't belong. Instead of flattening it maybe hold a community meeting and discuss it.

Who were they hurting? They obviously stayed respectful . They were doing something creative . Not vandalism, not stealing, not causing trouble. Just a get away where they could have a little fun. But you want to make them out to be the bad guys . Why ? What did they do to you? As soon as the city heard there was a place for riders to play and it wasn't hurting anyone , they destroy it! Just like they did in Springfield. (And it wasn't city property) but the city dozed it.

Let me make sure I understand. Lots of hard work went into this, People from kids to middle aged adults getting together for the love of riding, not doing drugs, drinking, or out causing problems and knowing that it was kept quiet for a reason. You decide to put it on the news. Just curious, how would you feel if you put your heart and soul into something positive (try moving just one truckload of dirt with a shovel. Youll get it)and someone comes along and puts it out in the public eye to be taken away.
