♛ Find the variations shown in the video in this blog-post - chess-teacher.com/giuoco-piano/
One thing that most chess players, including Magnus Carlsen, have in common is that they all play the Italian Game. It is the most popular and the most standard chess opening, which occurs after the first moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4. The most common response by Black is the Giuoco Piano, where Black plays the symmetric 3...Bc5.
Quite often, chess players feel intimidated by the seemingly complex nature of the mainline 4.c3 (also known as the Classical Variation) and may opt for the rather passive 4.d3. In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will guide you through these moves and share the most promising variations which worked the best for him and his students.
You will learn a secret line that will confuse your opponents and give you an edge right from of the opening. In fact, only 15% players at the beginner level are aware of this variation.

After Ne4, Bd5 what if black takes on f2? Black gets 2 pawns for the knight and white can’t castle anymore. Not sure if this is better for white. What is your suggestion after Nf2:?

Simply the best lessons, every time. Thank you, wonderful teacher. Comparatively others aren't as concise and don't demonstrate how the position was reached again, so the lessons don't stick. I've got a chess play list and 90% of them are yours.

Yeah I think @ 12:23 1..c5 2. dxc5 fixing pawn weaknesses on both sides. 2..Bd7 (attacking the white queen, then unless a new threat is created black has to prioritise getting rid of the knight to avoid the outpost being occupied, c7 is also a backwards pawn that needs protecting. So black must play actively as the white queen is already highly active.

Great video! I used to play the Italian without knowing any theory, and then I switched because I thought it was too passive, I only knew the fried iver, which I would use when I was around the 1200-1300 rating range, I had no Idea it was meant to be aggressive! But can you also make a Opening against the English Defence? I have no idea what to do against that. 😁 💯/💯

Thanks for all the content, Igor! I am new and learning openings but am having some trouble. How do you recommend following an opening line when opponent does not play the subsequent moves covered in your videos? Should I assume those moves are simply suboptimal and look for ways to exploit or stick to my sequence if the board allows?
@GMIgorSmirnov
@GMIgorSmirnov 6 ай бұрын
When your opponent deviates in a sharp opening it is very likely it is suboptimal and you can punish them. If not, you have to understand the opening you are playing ideas, piece placement and plans. So you can play good moves regardless of your opponents moves.

9:00 p-e5 n-e4 b-d5 how about nxf2! forking the queen & rook forcing Kxf2 followed by pxc3 (discovered check) and then if b-e3 then bxe3 kxe3 pxb2 traps the rook. else if the king just moves, pxb2 and for the knight, black wins 3 pawns and white cannot castle and the pawn on e5 is not supported by any pawns. seems playable to me as black.

Not to go against the knoledge of an ACTUAL Grand Master, but this opening has been renamed and is now called the 'Gucci Piano'. I believe it's also copyrighted or trademarked by Gucci in collaboration with Shinsuke Nakamura or some Japanese/American guy, idk, I don't watch that much pro wrestling. Jokes aside tho, this channel is awesome! Keep up the good work!

Don't play fast games and try to be hikaru when you see his videos where he is playing lightning fast. Play more for 30 minutes games and follow a systematic thought process for each move. The thought process :- 1. Check for unsupported opponent pieces. If you find them, look for ways to attack them and calculate variations. 2. If there are no unsupported which could be attacked, check for checks,captures and attacks and calculate (see what good responses your opponent has), (cca rule) 3. If there are no good checks, captures or attacks, improve the position of your least active piece. Some additional tips:- Learn fundamentals Play on basic principles Study openings Learn endgames
