Composed by Hiroki Kikuta. Recreated by me. This was made possible by locating the original instrument samples from workstation keyboards and drum machines before they were put into the game and rebuilding the soundtrack from the ground up, applying some modern mixing techniques along the way to lift the veil of 16bit compression and create an updated listening experience. This has to be one of my favorite final dungeon tracks of all time. It's intense, but upbeat. It has a futuristic feel that hits you as soon as you walk in the door. Great restoration!

Same, it's as if the game is saying, "You're almost to the end, congratulations! Hang in there!" Gotta add though, the Secret of Mana Genesis album which has the songs as they were originally supposed to sound? That shit blows my mind. Wish they put those versions of the songs on the 2018 remake's soundtrack because the new arrangement was just awful.

The mana fortress... where enemies had weird hit boxes or just jank reactions to weapon attacks... and hunting for the 9th orb for each weapon was the true final grind x///x

Even in the original form the music was some of the best. Too bad the sound driver dropped a lot of notes to play SFX.

This was a problem in Donkey Kong Country as well. It seems no one could fix that, though it also seems like they could have designated a single channel for less important musical elements that the SFX could interrupt rather than a main melody

@JamminSamMiller For the last point it is obvious to me that the sound driver doesn't have as good of a prioritization system. By the way when I mention sound driver, every SNES game has a program it uploads to the sound processor along with the music track to play the music and monitor for SFX requests. On the NES it was a subroutine that typically ran on every vnlank.
