I think Hoshina is more angry at himself for ignoring his own instincts and suspicions. Given that the typical Defense Force response to kaiju is shoot first, taking Kafka into custody is in itself an acknowledgment that he saved them and an extension of trust to some degree. I’m looking forward to seeing how much they squeeze into those last two episodes because this was the ending of the first “arc” of the manga, so we’ll be dipping our toes into the next narrative section.

Great reaction but thing I get pretty tired of is people being concerned over how much time is left in the episode. It just takes you completely out of the moment. Like, just enjoy it. If it ends it ends. It’ll continue next episode….
