@1:10 Now I'm looking on the Inner end and see, that when I installed, there was no ring there. That ring was on the Drive Shaft on which the CV Axle goes. I believe I saw one film when the ring was also on the Shaft, not on the CV Axle. When I removed the original CV Axle, the ring was left on the Shaft, so I left it there. I worried that it rotated kind of free in its grove (there is a grove on the shaft as well). Even wanted to replace, but then saw in one film, that it was sitting in the same way, and he put some grease on it, so it won't move that much. So I want to point out that the circlip locking ring on the Passenger side is on the Driving Shaft and not on CV Axle. There is a grove for that ring on the Right CV Axle, but it is located inside, on the inner side of the inner cylindrical part. Thank you for your film again.

I installed today CV Axle on Passenger side. The car has a design w/Intermediate Drive Shaft, there was no Transmission Oil on that side. It is just grease inside of the housing of that shaft (I know bcs I replaced the Seal on that Shaft housing. It was very hard to install it (though I put the ring w/opening down. I used 4 lbs hammer to hammer it in. But how I can be sure that the CV Axle is inserted completely? Is there any method to check? Thank you for a great film.

@@RBTheMechanic Thank you for the attention to my question. The car is 2001 Saturn SL2. There was a clicking sound on sharp Left turns, so as far as I know it can be Right CV Axle, so I decided to replace both, the car has ~130mi so it is time to replace anyway. On the Right (Passenger side) I installed Cardone 66-1274 New CV Axle, which I bought on Amazon. I put some grease on the splines (same which I added into the Intermediate Shaft housing, Green Grease 101 Synthetic Waterproof High Temperature Grease, 14 Oz. Tube). 1st I started w/orange plastic hammer, CV Axle just barely sited on the shaft. Then took 3 lbs hammer (nut was on the end of the CV Axle of course), it went more, but not enough. During all that I compressed the CV Axle as advised and made it as straight as possible. Then I switched to 4 lbs, it sited completely, doesn't move anymore, but I have doubts, since don't know how to check all that, if it is 100%. In some films they were talking about clicking sound, but how you can here it if you are hammering. Also someone said it would be a change on hammering sound, when sited, but I forgot about it during the installation and didn't listen how it sounded originally. I tried to pull w/ hand, obviously it doesn't comes off. If I knock w/wood, like during removal, it will comes off. I think maybe to knock slightly, but how slightly? All that is very confusing. I'll be doing more research today, but if you can tell smth. I would really appreciate. I also hope that when I go to Dealer for alignment and tell them my concerns, they might be able to determine, if it sits completely or not. Do you happen know what would be the signs on driving if it is not inserted well? Maybe I can check like that. Thank you again. Update: thinking about How to know that CV Axle is fully inserted on the passenger side, it came to my attention, that the color on the Inner end of CV Axle is different. It has a dark strip by the that big base cylinder. That dark strip, should it be fully seen, or part goes inside of the seal? I think it should be fully seen, otherwise why it would be there. From under the car I can't see the border between colors, just that dark strip. But I'm still in doubts.

Except you need to do ONE more thing !!!.....the grease is good....but also place the clip so that the opening is either straight up.....or straight down ( for most Toyotas, better open straight down)..... don't let the opening be at 3 oclock or 9 oclock.

@@RBTheMechanic.....yeah, I struggled until I found that out. Seems if the "opening" is in the wrong place, the clip "sticks-out" more beyond the shaft splines...and it's almost impossible to push-in until you rotate the unit several times during your "Attempts"...... better to get this right up front !!. Cheers.

What kind of grease is it, specifically?? I'm honestly about to RIP my hair out with my car lol. The passenger side cv axle is in the transmission and WAS actually flush etc, but with minimal driving, its not anymore and I can't even begin to describe how much I DON'T want to pull it back out again.... I don't want to deal with the mess of leaking gear oil (manual transmission for those who don't know there's a difference in what goes into it,) having to fight with adding more oil to the transmission at the end and above all else, the horrific smell that gear oil has, regardless of whether it's new or not. Nobody at autozone ever heard of "transmission grease", same with o'Reilly's, nothing called "transmission grease" on either of their websites. Fail :(

@@RBTheMechanic I believe you that it exists, but maybe under a different name / description? "Transmission grease" I'm guessing is its colloquial name used around the shop.

@@RBTheMechanic Btw, I used your method with simple STP red tacky grease, it worked for me and, volume-wise, isn't so much that I was worried about it dissolving.

He obviously has a hispanic accent. Some parts of english words just don't get said especially if Spanish origin language is a large part of their day or first language. Take it from someone that has spent alot of time in Mexico and the boarder. It just happens so don't be too hard on someone about perfect annunciation.
