As a newbie female under 130, I love a partner that participates in this type of roll vs all pressure and strength 🤍

Just like newbies shouldn't shadow box until they are very fluent, so to with flow rolling. Flow rolling can only be done with moves you already know. I believe in ecologically teaching. I personally believe that optimal learning begginers should be going all out. (Not a popular view bur it's growing traction)

At some point someone told me to treat it like a smooth game of catch and release and it clicked for me.

The ussue i have is when i try to flow with people they literally will full on just block thing and try and stop the movement then they get more and more aggressive its annoying

I feel like instructors have to verbally remind the entire class every 10 mins about this. Otherwise everyone just train like manics

Is that a problem, though?

I flow roll yeah like fighting a mass of yellow jacket, naked and only using my shirt to defend my self.

Flow rolling is a great way to warm up. If you want to become better work mechanics, then add resistance. After 3 months of working mechanics and resistance, then full roll to see progression.
@EvolveNowYoga8 ай бұрын
Flow rolling is more than a warm up, it helps you see more options from certain positions and situations that you wouldn’t see when you only roll with partners who are trying to take your head off
@jayleggett22618 ай бұрын
@EvolveNowYoga if your opponent not partner isn't trying to resist, then jiu jitsi becomes this watered-down garbage. Don't take real combat art and turn it into karate.
@DubiousDom8 ай бұрын
If this is how you think about flow rolling, you’re limiting your rate of growth. Flow rolling is a great way to warm up, but that’s the least noteworthy benefit. Flow rolling is about exercising the ability to connect techniques and movements at a pace that allows you to process and analyze the movements as you perform them while still existing partially in a state of mushin, or “no mind”. It requires skill and participation of both parties to reap the benefits. The skill required is the ability to give reaction and simulate resistance without actually creating tension and hindering the ability to move and connect, so both parties must understand not only attacking movements, but common defensive movements to offer the other partner appropriate reaction to sharpen their ability to connect and chain techniques seamlessly when there is resistance applied live. It has a time and a place, it’s not meant to occupy most of your training block, but if you’re relegating it to a “warm up” drill, you’re missing out on a massive part of your journey to eventually express jiu jitsu fully and completely.

@DubiousDom Tell me you have never been under pressure and power. While also having subpar technique. Also, if you're not pushing hard, then you will never become better.

I've come to learn that not every BJJ player is capable of flow-rolling. Some guys just become too desperate to apply or fight off a technique, which escalates things beyond a simple flow roll.

It's just another tool for the toolbelt. If you're injured but still want to be on the mats, focusing on your technique and execution by flow rolling is an option

You don't have to flow roll every round, it's just a tool. It's especially useful for exploring Jiu Jitsu to improve your technique, practice submissions and escapes, and be creative with your Jiu Jitsu.
@Bradley99672 ай бұрын
@sleeplessdev7204 It's a good tool, but it's not for beginners, just like shadow boxing isn't for beginners.
