I've had to let obvious Taliban scumfucks walk right past us with the help of elderly woman and children , it's a shitty thing to have to deal with , especially when you know your being surrounded and can't start clearing the area to get out of the problem , because woman who are obviously helping the Taliban , we can't engage them or the men starring at all of us and talking on a cell phone , you would think hey let's fucking detain this dress man and assess the situation but we can't , it's like the bullshit going on her in the U.S and all the cops shooting people and the people who are being shot almost always wind up being armed and bad guys , lol. This is meant for a mainstream civilian audience not versed in military culture, strategy or rhetoric. A good reporter keeps her audience in mind when asking questions and it might not be immediately apparent to the average person what type of situations would justify a defensive action. If you understand something well, you can explain it simply and to develop a deep understanding of a complex topic, you start with simple questions. So you see, she’s not the “dumb bitch” as you so eloquently put it, you are.

I find it hilarious that again and again, in these documentaries, the presenters say that the Canadian public need to know how great their armed forces are. I am not Canadian, but my partner is and served as a pilot in the 90s with the Air Force. Canada has one of the world's most competent, tough, intelligent and courageous soldiers in the world, who are not filmed by Hollywood. They been around since WW1 and have contributed to military technology, strategies and enhancement - which is why other military operations want them as trainers. Canadians should be proud of these guys, I sure am after researching, watching, hearing all those events they were involved in. Funnily, the presenter says they're going to Malaysia after this. I am Malaysian..what a coincidence!

I know we Canadians are very proud of what happened in 2017 but the fact is many countries field top tier snipers. Near as I can tell, they respect each other accordingly. ...except maybe US Army, Navy, and Marine snipers who seem to uphold the fine US Military tradition of heaping scorn on each other. I was looking into my dads military background during the Korean War, which i only know of what very little he told me about. All I know he was a Red Beret in the Canadian army airborne special forces division, his rank was E-8 master Sgt. and that he saw some brutal combat in Korea that left him haunted by some pretty nasty demons that would come for him in his sleep and cause him to violently thrash about screaming in broken Korean or possibly Chinese. He very rarely talked about Korea, I know that it really tore him up that he made it back when so many of his buddy's didn't, I also know that one occasion he told me about where his buddy got hit and as he was naturally a pretty big and strong guy he picked him up and ran back to the medic station with his buddy over his shoulder and he was talking to the guy telling him that he wasnt hit too bad and that hed be okay and all kinds of stuff, he says hes sure he was talking back too but when he put the guy down he had four or five rounds in him and he was dead as fuck with his brains hanging half out his head and shit. i wish i knew more about his time in the service, because even-though i am convinced that PTSD from combat is what put the zap on his head and is what made him turn to hard dope. a think a lot of Korean war vets and their families here in Canada were left to suffer in alone in agony and secrecy, brushed aside by an unthankful nation over a war too quickly and eagerly forgotten. its a disgrace if you ask me, that these guys were just left to heal their own wounds and even denied compensation by veterans affairs.

The Canadian Special Forces, and all special forces can be traced back to the original force, the "Devil's Brigade", or as the German's called them, the "Black Devils". An idea thought up by the British and given to the US because the British command wouldn't use the idea. US and Canadian personnel made up the original and developed the training used, with the Canadian winter training being the basis for cold weather tactics. Most Canadians have forgotten our fighting history and have no idea of the contributions Canada made in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and others. They also have no idea of the actual capabilities of our forces and their reputation among other forces as some of the best. Being among the best has nothing to do with how high-tech the weapons you have are, it has to do with your training and how you use the weapons you do have.

Yes, the SAS were assembled as a commando force in 1941, but were not trained in the special tactics as the Devil's Brigade was. The tactics they used were developed for them and later followed by other units. There are numerous documentaries and writings on the Devil's Brigade and all point to them being the first actually trained in special tactics as a specialized force, not just a commando force using normal fighting tactics to fight behind enemy lines. The name isn't what makes a "Special Forces" unit, it is the training and tactics.

@lelandlewis7207
@lelandlewis7207 8 жыл бұрын
The best way to answer that is to say "watch the documentary I posted", it describes the tactics they developed and the training they went through for infiltration and combat and winter fighting. I would have to watch it again (and will) myself to remember all of it, but some were stealth tactics and the training was everything from scaling sheer cliffs to quiet kills. If nothing else, it is a great watch just to see how it came to be and what they went through to develop the group and its training.

***** Both special forces (CSOR and JTF2) may operate together or not (individually or together with other units, namely foreign for example), depending on the mission. Just to clear up the difference between JTF2 and CSOR, I will use the following American (and more well known worldwide) examples: JTF2 -> Is basically the Canadian equivalent/counterpart of the United States Delta Force (officially known as the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta). CSOR -> Is basically the Canadian equivalent/counterpart of the United States Army Rangers. So yes, one of the planned roles for the CSOR is to be able to provide support for the JTF2 (but not only, of course) in a similar fashion as US Rangers are expected provide support for the US Delta Force, as it was seen in the well known "Black Hawk Down" incident (also known as the Battle of Mogadishu).

Canadian SOF was so secret most people including it's own regular military didn't really believe they were operational (actually being deployed, not just training over and over for theoretical hostage rescue). Which was a double-edged sword (if no one knows you exist, it develops less of a pool of people willing to be recruited). Mirroring the American side, the US Navy always advertises their SEALs (which annoys the other branches SOF who don't like publicity) This video sheds, whether we or even CSOR likes it, is a PR (subtle recruitment) video

The different is the accent and the expressions used. If I said: "Criss d'épais" it's and expression, I have been playing with French, Belge and Swiss for 2 years, I know there is not too much different, only few expression or way to say something but in final this is pretty much the same.

@@greyman686 I agree , I came out of the Corpse as an E-4 , but I had some troubles early on , let's say I was a PFC for a long time. It's an ongoing joke in rank and file , the endless corporal chain. And I didn't think it through leaving that comment , maybe he came in later in life , but they did say he is a career soldier , but how long can you ask your C.O to hold back promotions , I know the jump from E-4 to a NCO E-5 is a big jump and I can understand if you are a operator in a tight team , who stay together for years usually don't make it easy to gain a stripe , it just took me back hearing a career soldier is only a E-4 , he is 34 yrs old , usually you become a corporal by your 3 or 4th year enlisted. So let's say he joined at 20yrs old which is an old head , so that's 14 years. It just seems not possible to deny a promotion. Infact I believe you canr deny that without being court martialed , but still promoted. IDK , I'm kind of confused. Especially with combat soldiers , it's the fastest way to grow , again I served in the USMC for 4 years as a ( M.O.S ) 0311 , infantryman. And I'm sure our chain of command is structured different than Canada's militarty. I have a great deal of respect for the Canadians , the U.K , even the ANA , I don't trust them nearly as much. Plus I liked the 30pack of bensen and hedges , cigarettes the Canadians had. I am just curious. But all respect given.

Well, the CF isn't the USMC or the US in general, so the way you guys do it means nothing when it comes to our military. You not believing it doesn't change the fact he did 35 years service and didn't go above Corporal. I worked with him for the last five years of those 35 and attended his retirement ceremony, but perhaps that was just a big dream. There's a term in the CF known as CFL or Corporal For Life and it's a very real thing.

@cssl8627
@cssl8627 8 жыл бұрын
Well, it much more complicated then just sending Canadian troops into another country to save two men being held by a terrorist group. First we need permission from tha country for our troops to be sent there, which is already hard because they rarely grant permission and don't entirely trust us. Second, we have to look at the probability of actually saving these men. We don't have much information where they are being held, we don't know how many people are gaurding them, and we don't know how many civilians that may be present. Third, is it really worth it? We are sending highly trained operators into a unknown mission that could be an ambush. We have to put value on these operator's lives. What happens if they are killed when trying to save 2 men? What happens when they get there and the 2 men are already dead? There are too many bad scenarios where something could go wrong. It just isn't worth it.
