My dad; God bless his soul; was blind, but he loved to work the wood, and he always took the chance to get me to help, and we used heavy tools, saws, nail guns, and all normal tools, but him being blind he also used them; he had Braille tools, so he could measure properly and place the stoppers on spot. We still use several furniture we made together over 20 years ago. Loved this episode because it reminded me of those days.

Nifty framing jig you have there. I thought of you and your bee videos when I heard on the news about a house that had 80,000 bees in it here in Missouri. The radio newscaster said the homeowner was amazed that the bees could have built a such a big hive in such a short time in the walls of their house and I remembered all the places you have found bees. I never heard what they did with the bees, hope they moved them to a bee house. Blessings!

When I was about 8 years old, my dad's youngest daughter I used to help him build flats for a florist, a side job my dad did so he could give my mom flowers for holidays and birthdays. I loved the smell of cut wood and sawdust. We used nails to keep them together. I love the way you always say, with the "Grace of God" etc. That is living Jesus everyday.

There's a lot of satisfaction in making your own equipment. I did the same when I kept bees, even rolling my own wax. That way I knew I wasn't putting infected stuff into my hives. All the best from the UK.

A SHORT CUT IDEA FOR YOU??? - (great video, BTW!) The step you did at 3:12 on the radial saw - the first cuts - If you did the diagonal cuts at this point, rather than at 10:39 - Would this eliminate having to do the 800 cuts at the end? Also, it would waste less wood, because the initial cuts are at 45 degrees. (do one end, flip the board, and do the other side). So the cuts would look like this text representation: |x\. /. \. /. \x|. Where the 'x' are the end diagonal waste cutoffs (rather than:). what you have now for 10:39 which is |x\. /x| on every piece. Not sure if you'd need to, but maybe build another router push board jig with a 'v' notch cut out in the end to fit the new 45 degree pointed ends. - Peace be with you.

I’ve seen videos where people prefer the hole drilled off to the side or at a corner of the inner top cover. Does it make a difference? What purpose does the hole serve? Ventilation? For feeding? Both?

I suppose if I got rid of some of the clutter in our shop it would somewhat approach the efficiency of the Abby wood shop. I wonder how much time you invested in your jigs to stream line your process. You have managed to eliminate “haste makes waste” and ensure that you meet the requirements of “measure twice and cut once. Well it’s time for a mug of tea to get my day started. Just watched the Telescoping Covers and the Inner Cover assembly, there is a reason its like 54 bucks from MannLake for the pair (2022 prices). Great work, but I don't think I can build this stuff on a basic tablesaw considering current wood prices.

My husband used these plans from Woodglut and he is very pleased.

So your wrangling inner covers now lol,we used to buy the covers with the 2 slots cutout for the bee escapes the plastic escapes. I forget what they are called. I honestly prefer the single round hole as I feel they are perfect for a jar or bucket for syrup feeding.

Most hobby workers don't have a shaper. Wish I did. Router table does just as good, but is generally a little lacking when it comes to dust collection. You don't cut a slot in it for an upper entrance / ventilation?

Can you do a video on how you make your SCREENED inner covers? I've seen a few videos, but no of them have any way of keeping the screens tight with little flex. I'm wondering how it's best done for Mass production.

I was ready for a fake finger amputation or nail in the finger lol. That’s a really cool workshop with the big dust collector and all. So you make coffins in there? Interesting. What do you do for the top exit/vent since that inner cover design doesn’t have a notch. Do you run spacers? You probably don’t have to feed sugar like folks further north. I hate paying for inner and telescoping covers. Not much to them and they are so expensive. I try to make my own bottom boards too. The solid versions. I buy the hive bodies. Those finger joints are a pain to cut and you don’t save a lot making those anyway, unless you have access to some free lumber. Cool video. Thanks! PS, you shouldn’t call Susan lazy, she might get mad.

I'm a new beekeeper. I just purchased a inner cover that has a vent, I noticed yours does not. It would be a simple step but i'm wondering if you would share why you choose not to and maybe the pros and cons of a vent ?

Nice video , I truly enjoyed it , I come from several generation of wood working pro and Tradesman {Uncle got killed by a cable while hauling logs in the forest and my father from wood dust in the lungs}I do have two comments , yes it cost penny to the dollar to make , - Agreed , you have invested a lot in your tools , the large majority cannot afford such system . very few have a dust collector- Safety You are trained and experiencedThis make a whole lot of difference , as you are working with 2 of the most dangerous woodworking power tools , the third is the chain saw . combine they generate a lot of business for ER. - to anyone watching any of these video , please do keep only one thing in mind , My Father had a saying the blade is just looking and waiting for you to make that mistake , use wood with knots , cross grain , not properly dried and it will either shatter or pull your hands toward it and you will loose what ever is in the way , He experienced it lost thumb , little finger and split in half the ring finger , the shop was unheated and they lost the feeling resulting in injury , different era , same danger .- Always use the feather such as the one on the video , Never operate them if you are tired or distracted . EVER ! You can always make them tomorrow - This is the only reason I will say that paying for them is still cheaper as you cannot replace , eyes , fingers or hands . I love wood working , I have my own tool , yet I rather buy some of the profile to make them .How about making these as a Kit and sell them , You can Turn a nice profit .I would be the first one buying from you . Lot of beekeeper would too Once again very nice video ,
