This was a great day out, Trevor has a world of knowledge and him and his partner are lovely people to have us there for the day, it was a long day 12 hours and you put it into a 2 hour video that was great to watch, good to show people the workings of a fish wholesaler, they live a busy life looking after all those fish so people can enjoy them down the track and after all this work they go for such a low price to, I really enjoyed this trip, Thanks for having me and letting me tag along for the ride, I really enjoyed watching this video it will bring back memories 🙂

People are usually only so generous with their time and knowledge with people they genuinely like, so that says a lot about you mate and it's awesome that you then share all that with us too. My 21yr old son sent me this link with must watch. He said he does so much like you used too. And yes this breeder has so much commonsense, in both tips and reasons. The majority of the aquarium industry s and enthusiastic keepers will generally share good information. I'm in sth Australia and have bred fish both hobby and commercial since age 12. I'm a big fan of green water for fry especially for gourami, fighters and more . I recommend grey food grade or heavy white IBC s to assist with algae reduction. With my old set up early 2000s I used old fridges above the IBC as the filters and the freezer was a sand filter feeding gravity fed shower head s for airation. I found later the curved edges like he has aided against did jumping . In my room I would used a 1/4cut down IBC as a sump / grow out , good for gouramis and bagging pre putting in transport boxes. The comment re fish feramones us spot on to stimulate others or to bring on batches. One tip I have is i used turtle tanks with a cage n pump and a litre frozen milk container if rain water to bring on catfish . They would lay on the slope and a sheet of slate or glass on the side wall. As for sturbae I found by accident floating black tree tube pots were preferred. For angels I used base cut out old glass flagons to sporn on as with discus . This way they could be easily changed and an air stone added to provide airation and current over the shape and eggs. I'm about to start up a new hatchery now I have a farm. But I'm wadeing thru government red tape as now even a hobbiest requires an aquaculture licence some states as low as 4000 and 10000 litres. I have found that if you are a pet shop registration then it doesn't apply Mmm grey area. I feel I have a similar problems with water my bore water is pH 11 680-800pmm. I'm looking into a solar still for purification. Or buying it In. And rainwater tanks but rainfall is only 300-360mm per year . I'm also concerned about the other farmers spraying their crops . That shit carries on the wind. Keep up with the good content

What a great video! There were several things that impressed me in particular: Firstly, how on earth did you, Trevor, manage to find two hours to stop working and make this video! Second, how well stocked your farm is. I have seen many farms in different countries, and one thing that has frequently struck me is the number of wasted empty facilities. Really surprising. However, empty facilities are obviously not a part of your production strategy! Third, how you achieve so much with such a limited (and costly) water supply is hugely impressive. Fourth, how forthcoming you are with information that is so often a tightly kept secret. Open, honest and helpful. (You are definitely better suited to fish farming than politics!) Fifth, a beautifully made video IMO, even interspersed with some of that dry TC humour! A credit (as usual) to KeepingFishSimple.

Nick, Trevor speaks of breading with hormones. Could you do a video about it? Maybe some experiments also? I would really like to bread kuhli loaches and they say, they only breed with hormones.
@TrevorCoombs-th7dy
@TrevorCoombs-th7dy 5 ай бұрын
Yes, they do breed with hormones. Have done it before. Firstly, they are very difficult to inject being so thin, and you can very easily hit a vital organ. Secondly they grow very slowly. Thirdly, they are really imported so cheaply, they are hardly worth it financially.

@TrevorCoombs-th7dy
@TrevorCoombs-th7dy 5 ай бұрын
About 100 ml/day for brine shrimp. Black worm depends entirely upon the season firstly, and also what varieties you need to "push" at the time. 3L every 2 weeks seems to work on average.
