In business and in life it is easy to say "I can't." To fall prey to politics, bureaucracy, constraints and a lack of ideas that keeps you stuck on a problem. In this talk, Mona Patel takes you through a proven technique that shifts a mindset from "can't" to "can." A shift from a seeing a problem as an opportunity space. "Can't" is a mindset that you can design around.
Mona Patel is the CEO & Founder of Motivate Design, a user-centered design agency based in New York City. Motivate Design helps clients discover customer needs and designs solutions to meet those needs. In recent her book, Reframe: Shift the Way you Work, Innovate and Think, Mona demonstrates how her 8-step creative process can help companies innovate and design simple, beautiful experiences. In addition to helping clients and other Fortune 500 companies become unstuck, Mona is also a teacher at Parsons, the New School for Design.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Seeing problems as opportunities is a synonym of personal grown. Actually, those people with that kind of critical thinking are "humanistic healers". This also involves great minds who are willing to change the world.

Mona, you're talking a great deal on whats known in design thinking pedagogy. Why dont you acknowledge where credit is due. This presentation skews it as your own & not good for one to know later that it wasnt really you. NOT Judgemental, but maybe it'll be of help to all. Also i have been interested in the insiders Insight research prog. Hope we could collaborate on level playing field & hope someone concerned hollers out. Cheers

Traditional indian culture is acceptably backward, they put women beneath men, think before taking any step and so on so forth. But after bashing on all that is bad about India, please glorify India as the one country that has given so much to the western world. The concept of zero, yoga, ayurvedic practices, astro physics, literature, culinary science and so much more. It is extremely demeaning when an indian american woman standing infront of hundreds of westerners, and saying tongue in cheeks jokes about India how we are only traditionals and there is nothing more than that about us.
