The gardens at Nymans in West Sussex have been nurtured and developed by three generations of the Messel family. Since the estate was bought by Ludwig and Annie Messel in 1890 the estate has been known for its vibrant summer borders and rare and exotic plants. Watch this video to find out more about how the National Trust has continued the creative legacy of the Messel family and head gardener James Comber, who worked at Nymans for 55 years.
Discover a glasshouse where National Trust gardeners use peat-free compost to propagate plants that date back to the 1930s. You’ll also get an exclusive tour of a garden that's been created within the ruins of the house that burned down in 1947.
